OTA update
I have been out in my 540i this morning, due to snow and covid restrictions it is only the 2nd time I have driven this car this year.
When I pop it into reverse, the passenger mirror now dips towards the rear wheel. Its exactly what my Golf R did, expect Im sure the BMW never did this. Is it an OTA or am I actually going crazy? |

I've had this on my E91 and my F31 and thought it was a standard feature. The only thing I found stopped it was if the selector was set to adjust that mirror - i.e. if I'd been moving the passenger mirror and left the selector switch to that side, it no longer dipped.

You can turn off the feature by switching the mirror selector (used to adjust mirrors) to the other mirror.

This has been a standard feature of BMWs for decades. My 1985 e30 325e had this feature as well as every other BMW I've owned since then.
![]() As stated above...it can be deactivated by moving the switch that controls which side view mirror you want to adjust. {from my1985/1991/1995 e30/e32/e34 owners manual} ![]() {from my 1997 & 1999 e38/e39 owners manual} ![]() {from my 2006 e53 owners manual} ![]() {from my 2013 f06 & 2014 f15 owners manual}
