Any experience with exoshield?
Looking at adding it to my m2 cs and I called one of the few installers in the area here and it didn’t feel like they had a ton of confidence in the product.
It was basically like an expectation disclaimer. They said I’d have to replace the shield every 8 months in Colorado because if you use your wipers it scratches it and the pebbles will pit the shield. She said they’ve seen it discolor a bit and people don’t notice until it’s taken off. It wasn’t exactly a glowing endorsement of the product they installed.

Would that film prevent a crack from a big ass rock? It seems like it would be a wear item being used on the windshield. I feel the same about XPEL, but the lifespan is longer (dependent on road conditions I guess) and you don't have to look through it, so imperfections don't jump out like on a windshield.
Glass is pretty hard, but I can see wanting to go this route if there are a lot of stones on your roads. I've trashed a few helmet visors running on the race track before I figured out just run tear offs or the visor film that some helmets come with. No help from me, but I'm curious about it now.

I have XPEL on my car an love it, but didn't consider anything for the windshield. With 8k miles on my car I already have a lot of rock chips in the windshield. Seems like the glass is soft or something, but you are right, I would not bother with that product if they seem to have no confidence in it. Every 8 months will come quickly. At least with XPEL, it's good for 10+ years provided it doesn't get too beat up.

exoshield is only meant for exotic cars with windshields that cost thousands of dollars to replace. it's not cost effective on M2s which use 2 series glass that cost $300-500

Some guys in my supercar group would get it done for rallies or a track season, but IMO not really worthwhile for everyday occasions as it's not meant for it.

No experience with exoshield
However, I do have maxxion windshield protection film on the outside and ceraluxe quantum ceramic 70% tint on the inside of my windshield from prestige film technologies on my M2C I have mixed feelings about the windshield protection film On the one hand, it definitely saved my windshield from a stone kicked up by a truck on the highway My windshield would almost certainly have cracked without it However, I do notice a very slight bit of distortion It is hard for me to say how much is from the protective film, the tint or my eyes getting older, but I believe it is primarily from the protective film Like I said before, it is very slight, but worth mentioning nonetheless My car is not a daily driver and I normally only take it out when the weather is nice, although it has been caught out in light rain a few times heading to and from the track The hydrophobic qualities of the film are excellent and it sheds water remarkably well which drastically reduces the need to use the wiper blades However, the few times I have used the wipers I did notice an occasional drag of the blades (which was immediately remedied with a shot of wiper fluid) The film has held up well for me so far, but as noted above my car spends most of its' time in the garage YMMV |

I have exoshield on my car and got it done for around $300 here in NY. I don't have any distortion or issues and it works just like xpel
It is quite thick and will prevent your windshield from chips or cracks. My car is garaged and not driven much in bad weather so the exoshield still looks new If you are paranoid about your windshield then I would recommend it. |

Original exoshield did have a tendency for discoloration but the newer formulation supposedly fixed that. I have it on my M3CS since it is not driven daily and I don’t take it out in the rain, but just in case I’d ever get caught in it, I also had ceramic coating put on top of it so water just beads off easily. It is a wear item but after plenty of mountain drives and stupid glass pitting on previous cars, I couldn’t be happier with the choice.
