Yep, I have BMW's performance exhaust. Very aggresive tone while at cruise, is quiet enough.

I'm very interested on the BMW performance exhaust but I was never able to find the video/sound clips on 335i coupe yet. Does anyone know where I can find it?

The note, the frequency of the note changes with RPM. At 2,000 rpms, the tone is deep. At 6K rpm's, a much different story. Mpipes became much more smooth after about 2K miles.

Installed the BMW Performance Exhaust two weeks ago. It is, to me, the perfect blend of allowing a great engine sound when I want, yet quiet when I want. Yes, lots of money, but no warranty issues.

Also, talk to the parts manager that you are thinking about it, and what kind of price he/she could do to make you make the purchase. His subsequent quote was several hundreds off of list. Also got a commitment from the service manager that even though though BMW states in their manual that the install time is between 1/2 and 1 hour labor, that he would guaranteed no more than 3/4 of an hour. He agreed to that, and the final service bill was for2/3's of an hour.

Parts managers and service managers are under pressure to have their operations at least break even, so they often will deal if you ask them for a quote BEFORE you decide for the "elective surgery."

VERY GLAD I have the BMW exhaust. (The car was way too quiet for me before it was installed.)

According to the BMW USA website, the Perfomance Exhaust for the coupe has a suggested retail price of $1861.97, a difference in SRP of $465.49.

I wonder what accounts for the difference? I wonder if the sedan version comes with a replacement performance center resonator... or maybe more tubing to bypass the center resonator altogether...

I have a 335 sedan and the BMW performance exhaust. Yes, the center stock resonator is replaced with a small box that allows the gases to flow down either path to the muflers, a x-over design.

I would not call it cat back. If it were cat back, I wouldn't have had to cut the pipes several feet past the cats... It's more like mufflers + 6 inches.

VERY interesting. So this finally answers the mystery of why the sedan's is more $ than the coupe's exhaust. The coupes has no such piece, as I believe the stock exhaust already incorporates such an X pipe.

Any pictures of the pipes or from underneath for us?
