Driving Assistance Professional Package? Is it worth it?

Is anyone planning on ordering this option for $1700? I am trying to determine if it is truly worth it from a safety perspective. Thoughts?

I got it. My wife will probably borrow it and it'll make me worry less .

The pro package isn't really a safety option... it's a convenience feature. Radar cruise, lane keep (actual steering) and traffic jam assist.

The more basic assist package with blind spot, cross traffic, lane departure, and emergency braking is all included std

I say get it but I also load every new car with all the toys and tech

Have it on my x6mc and m8c and totally worth it. Ordered it for my m3c.

The assist really helps me with some long boring drives where there's just no action and no value in keeping 100% of my brain power on the drive.

I have it ordered, I have it on my 2021 740li, and recently sat in traffic for 30 minutes and never touched the wheel.

people focus too much on the highway function which is unremarkable imho, but if you have traffic, when that 3rd green light comes on, traffics suddenly less frustrating

Good to know! Haven't sat in traffic since getting these rides. Roads still not busy here.

I won't get it even if it was a no cost option. That off center sensor in the front grille is ugly!

I wouldn't get it purely based on the disgusting off center sensor. Auto cruise control is nice but by no means necessary. I've had it on previous cars and opted to not get it on current cars. Save your money.

Maybe if I spent a ton of time in traffic driving in LA, but in Ohio where traffic isn't usually too bad I passed.

Even though traffic is brutal on my commute I wouldn't get this, BSM/rear cross traffic is all I need. Don't care for any more aids, I don't even use cruise control so this option is worthless to me.

I will get it. I like the radar cruise and the other options come in handy from time to time.

If I was getting the comp I'd 100% get this. It is so nice for driving in traffic. My wife has it on her Q7 and the car will basically drive itself, including around corners etc. it's basically another set of eyes on the road, and makes driving in traffic far less tiring. Not being able to get this with the 6MT was my main hesitation with going the 6MT route

I will be using my G80x for about 75% daily commuting. My commute is mostly 45mph city streets with a few lights scattered about w/some freeway. I do like the idea of commuting with less stress. Letting the car manage most of the vehicle distancing for me is appealing. It seems that when I drive back and forth to work, I want to find the opening working towards as much open road in front of me as possible. I feel with the DAPP package, I would be able to relax and allow the car to manage that for me.

Is this a solid feature for this application and does it work well (read smoothly)?

Although I work from home, I really enjoy after a spirited drive on the backroads that I can turn on cruise control and alleviate 90% of the work for the reminder of the ride. Plus the traffic jam cruise is worth it alone. I have been driving for close to 40 years and have had my fair share of bad commutes. The full driving feature in traffic is fantastic in my opinion.

I think it comes down to whether (1) this is your primary car and (2) you are often in traffic. If no to either, I’m not sure it’s worth it. I think it looks odd/bad aesthetically too.

This system doesn't see/react-to traffic lights, does it?

Now that you have your M3 with the DAPP, are you using the system and seeing the value in it?

Same here, it’s genuinely the only reason I debated the auto. Still decided against it though.
