Hands-Free Retrofit with Combox (6VC) Already Installed?

Hello,

I am trying to understand my options to get factory hands-free bluetooth working in my March 2011 328i that has the Combox (6VC), USB Audio (6FL), and the Professional HU (663).

I have seen many posts referencing TCU retrofits, but I have struggled to find any posts that reference someone retrofitting from a pre-existing Combox asides for brief mentions, particularly by Technic, who is now inactive.

My basic understanding is that since the car already has the Combox, a microphone and bluetooth module are needed. Has anybody done this retrofit or knows anything about it?

combox already contains bluetooth
you need mic with wiring and bluetooth antenna cable with antenna from e9x or bluetooth cable with integrated antenna from e7x
and code option in headunit and combox

Thanks for the Reply!

Where does the mic attach to? I have seen conflicting answers between the back of the HU or the combox itself. Confused as the top of my Professional HU has the bluetooth symbol on the top, what is actually built in to it?

Also, Can this be coded without an ICOM? As coding over the MOST bridge requires it, can bluetooth be enabled by adding a VO rather than a direct code to the HU?

if you have bluetooth symbol on headunit than you need only mic with wire,
bluetooth antenna is inside of the radio. you'll need to wire mic to headunit and code headunit

In this case would adding $644 to the VO enable BT? Trying to sort out getting the phone menu on the HU before I actually buy any of the hardware.

Most coding examples are not for e90's that have both the newer professional radio with bluetooth and the Combox installed at the same time.

Edit: Just checked the HU again, I was mistaken about the bluetooth markings on the top. So the original antenna + mic wired to Combox still applies. Still unclear about the coding as when I was checking the unit it has a production date of 2/25/11. Concerned as I have seen other members having issues coding the newer professional radios.

this is not a problem , 644 option with correct zeitkriterium should do the job
