The M3 is too good - how can I get out of my current lease?
Folks - 1st world problems. So beware.
I am 16 months into an X5 lease. I do have another family car (VW Atlas), so, I don’t really need the X5. It would be prudent to hold my breath for another 20 months, but I am not sure I can wait that long for this new M3. Any brilliant ideas? I know, not much hope here, but worth asking the beautiful minds. Cheers guys, hope all are enjoying the new M3. |

If you have good insurance, leave it parked in a bad area with the key on the seat

Lease transfer. Someone will assume your lease.
Unless your deal was pretty bad, then no one is going to take it from you, unless you put cash into the deal to reduce the monthly payment for the remaining of the lease. Is done all the time. |

Just get the LCI M3 when it comes out. They'll have ironed out any improvements in the engine and chassis. You'll also get IDrive 8 and some luxury uplifts.

Replace the Atlas with an M3.

I'm in same position with M340i. It's a great car but I've got G80 fever bad. 18 months into lease and way under miles. I'm trying to convince myself I can trade it in net zero but haven't reached out to dealers yet because I'm waiting for xDrive anyway. It doesn't hurt to check your value and talk to dealer about trade in.

Check to see how much your payoff is versus the the trade in value. The trade in market is hot right now, especially through places like Carvana. Maybe it's not too far off and you may have to put just few extra dollars towards the payoff to get out of your lease.

I just sold an '18 Golf R for $32k. Paid $37.5 for it when new. Drive it for 2 1/2 years and 34k miles in between. After selling, the buyer told me he would have happily paid $34! After stewing over that for a hot second, I got my revenge by saying I would have happily sold it for $27. Made it a no-brained to jump into a new car this month!

Dealers are looking for used cars and especially those fairly new and in good condition. I sold my '18 M3 for $54k earlier this month. Buyout was $48k. Lease was due to end in June but I didn't need the car , WFH, and it saved me any lease turn in fees. (Tires).
