MY2022 xDrive timeline?

Any clue if the 2022 AWD will be delivered on the same timeline as the 2021 AWD (summer or fall release)? Or will the build dates be in line with the 2022 RWD Comp?

There's no 2021 AWD. The July production cars will be 2022.

Which month makes the model year the next year's model? eg cars produced from July (or which month?) of a year will be regarded as the following year's model?

I believe for the U.S. July production is next year's model. Not sure if it applies to all BMWs but it does for the G8x

Model years are a made up thing... most of ROW just assigns a car to the year it's produced. The US market rules are something like "the next model year can be introduced anytime in the preceding year" the most recent bmw example that comes to mind was the 2018 4 series LCI launched in March 2017. Bmw like most major brands ties their most significant updates to their lineups to mid summer as the US market custom is for new model year cars to being arriving in fall. Bmw does usually have 3 significant events for their lineup March, July, and November, with a few other updates and changes sprinkled in. If they had really wanted to they probably could have introduced the g8x as 2022.
