So I just got off the phone with BMW. They told me my car will begin production on week 18 of the year which they say is may 2nd. My questions are...

Do these timelines every get moved up?

what would be the estimated delivery date if production does begin may 2nd to the car delivered in new york?

I asked a similar question in another thread and the responses I got were that yes, the dates can move up at times but probably won't see anything drastic. I don't know what the typical timeframes are for an east coast delivery after build completion but I know for us west coasters it can be about 8-10 weeks from production beginning to car actually arriving at the dealership.

After production begins, without any hiccups (due to supply or quality) you should have your car in 8 weeks (give or take 2 weeks additional due to ship capacity/schedule) but i’m sure your CA said this?

I understand the concern. It really depends on your options and a bunch of factors. Some have seen a lot sooner others are being pushed back. I hope it all works out in your favor. I took delivery last week. The waiting and unknowns were annoying especially because there was no solid date on release. If you see a blacked out G82 around know it’s probably me!

Go with what BMW says for production and add 6-8 weeks. What dealer are you going through?

My car goes into production the week of April 19. 6 weeks puts me at May 31st, 8 weeks puts me at June 14. I expect the car by no later than 8 weeks but probably closer to 6. Then again, ocean freight is at capacity worldwide because of Covid so who knows.

With my last build (18' M2) there was similar confusion on both ends. There were even some hiccups adding my car to MyBMW.

When I was finally able to add my car to the tracker it was ahead of both schedules given to me.

I see.... yea they don't seem to be to up to date with this tracking system
