Should I change my order to AWD?

Hey all just seen the post inside the forum about xdrive...

I can see a lot of people having similar questions.

I have ordered a RWD m3.

Its due to get to me start of july, i went for a test drive to see if if i should get the awd when it comes out (wasnt planning on buying till next year) .

I loved it that much and the traction was so good i thought wow i could have this sooner in rwd (current car is rwd m140i)...

I went into the dealer after 3rd test drive in the rain and they gave me a killer deal!

Against msrp i save 300 quid per month ( about 380 usd) and they bought me out of my old car 2 years early which is insane with zero penalty)

Seemed like a massive deal and saved about 15 percent off msrp + the remaining pcp payments on my old car.

Tbh in the uk the rwd is enough after a test drive in the wet its awesome but know it wont be as good as the awd from a dig.

But...

I cant help but think should i wait until the awd but just cant see many deals been done when it first get released?

Ive already signed and the dealer said they can swap it but not on the same deal (so would be pretty much MSRP at 500 per month over what im getting the RWD for.)

What to do...

Is the deal too good to change out of?
Im also thinking if there is an lci model after 2 years can upgrade to that awd and maybe even the touring.

This dam awd has got me torn!

postives. get card earlier, save just under 500 usd a month (its a mental deal).

Negatives: rains a lot in the UK and swore my next car wold be awd after the m140i (RWD M3 is much better in the wet than the m140i). But very impressed with the RWD traction...

Ive never been so torn between two cars, and its the same car! They have done an epic job with this RWD!

I debated waiting for AWD or doing something now. I chose now and for a few reasons.

1) I've had some things happen to people close to me this year that are a reminder of how fragile and short life can be. I've wanted an M3 since I got my first BMW 21 years ago but the timing was never right for various reasons. I wanted to make that a reality now and not wait.

2) With talk of M's going hybrid who knows if this is the last M3 in this form. When they go hybrid maybe they only come in AWD, who knows. I wanted to experience the M3 like this. I will get a set of snows. I also work from home so my travel is limited plus my wife has an SUV so if we need to go out in the snow we are set.

3) If during the lease I decide at some point I want AWD I will get it after the LCI when my lease is up.

Thanks guys.

And Zirenz2006 your number 1 point is exactly why I am getting the car as well.

I'm in the exact same boat as you, minus the test drives.

I am getting 17% off MSRP and will likely get the same deal on a AWD.

My order hasn't been allocated yet, still waiting for a build date/production number.

I spoke to the dealership (Park Lane, London) earlier today, and they said it will be early June when they can place an order on the system for the AWD...

I am a bit reluctant completely cancelling my order and waiting until then (in case the above offer gets pulled somehow), so instead I am going to chance it, if by June my RWD still hasn't begun production, I will enquire and amend my order to AWD if the offer remains the same, if not then no biggy because the RWD is mega too.

I am curious to see how AWD compares to RWD in the real world, not sure if we will see some pre-release reviews on YT in the next few weeks.

In your case, if you are contemplating on getting a Touring/Estate at some point in future, you may as well wait for the LCI and get a AWD then I would say.

Yes I think i will wait and follow through Sbm007, and I was also in the same thinking...

If it hasnt started production in June it takes away one of the reasons to get RWD... gettign it a few months earlier.

If you havent test driven one, OMG they are awesome, the RWD is amazing and it it was all that was on offer I wouldnt have this doubt :-)

My dealer has pretty much said I wont get the same deal which i can understand they had some allocatiosn to shift but no idea what deal I would get.

So I think I may stick with the RWD (and knowing me as soon as I see a video or two will change my mind again).

9153mark yes exactly why I dont want to move really I think I got a pretty massive saving myself (not quite 17%) and just cant see it on the AWD being anywhere close to the same monthlies.

Read on a UK forum that the AWD option will be available to configure in the UK on bmw.co.uk on May the 5th

15-17% off MSRP here? Is there something I am missing? This seems a bit strange for a brand new model. M340i that were stuck on the lot weren't even going for this big of a discount. (This is almost loaner/demo vehicle-discount territory)

Got a deal sheet to share?

When I was enquiring directly with various dealerships, I was able to negotiate 5/6% off MSRP without trying too much.

Someone then brought to my attention that in the UK BMW has a discount scheme that offers massive 17% discount off any new BMW or Mini including optional extras for anyone that works or has immediate family members that work in the emergency services (Police, Fire/Rescue, Health Services).

That's pretty wild. Don't think we have anything like that over in the US, AFAIK.

International pricing structure are NOT apples/apples with just currency conversion.

Every market has wildly different expectations. One can never compare deals outside of their market.

I started through Carwow.
Got 3 offers on base spec M3c.
None from my local who gave me a bum trade in too.
Haggled for discount on new car and wasn't bothered about price on trade in as will sell private as it's top notch with lots of m stuff (everything actually). They didn't realise how I'd played the "trade up" deal to my advantage as never planned to trade in.
Just played 2 dealers off until I reached the point of p.......g them off. Went with 15% and a 20 Mile further pickup drive Vs 13% and better trade in price for 3touring...

Looks like 15% is reasonable in UK. The car cost over 100K usa dollars in UK because of the extra tax.
