MPerf Coilover spring rate

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been done to death but couldn't find in the search...

I have the M Perf coilovers and am finding them far too soft for track use, even with the dampers stiffened up to the recommended and above settings.

In the long run I'll look to replace the M perf set up with either Nitron or Ohlins but in the mean-time I'm looking for a quick and cheap option to get a bit more body control (at the sacrifice of some comfort on the road).

I believe the M perf coilover is basically a rebranded KW V3 but with a softer spring (although when I spoke to KW they wouldn't speak to me as that is top secret between them and BMW).

I was thinking I could use the KW spring rate from the kit and fit to my M perf damper and wondered if anyone had experimented with this or had any insight into spring rates etc.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks - Jonny

Well, they might not tell you what the rates are, but maybe they will sell you some springs?

Hi,
I have KW V3 and found the front way to soft, so replaced my progressive front springs with Linear H&R 120 mm 140 N/mm + helper spring 80 mm 20 N/mm.
This was a great update for us running the car on track

Which spring length and ID did you buy? I think I'm now set on trying a stiffer spring but want to make sure I'm ordering the right coilover spring

AHh ok this is slightly different for me as the BMW M Perf doesn't have a helper spring so wasn't planning on including one into the setup was just looking for a straight swap against the existing spring for a slightly stiffer one

Front KW v3's don't have a helper spring in original either, but was needed for my linear conversion according to Millway, and it works great
