MY09 Fog Light Switch

When I took a closer look at a MY09 sedan parked at the dealership today, I noticed the MY09 fog light switch is different. Has anyone else noticed this? It seems like there is a smaller button in the movable switch itself. The car was locked so I could not play around with it. I was thinking about ordering the Euro rear fog light switch but maybe I will order the Euro rear fog light switch for MY09 instead. Has anyone installed the MY09 switch on a MY06-MY08 E90/E92 yet? I am not too keen that the switch has some plastic chrome but I guess I should modernize the car if I am going to mod it. Thoughts?

I did when I went to pick up my car from the stealership last week! I played with it, it wasn't much different except for the added trim.

Funny. . . Your 09 E90 still parked at the dealership.
Picture taken through the window.

Anyways, looks like there's still the button for the fogs.

As stated above it looks exactly the same except for the trim around the knob.

I asked today about the fog light but the technician wasn't sure whether merely swapping the switch will even function with a US spec without possibly requiring recoding. The adaptive brake lights that the fog light piggy-backs off apparently function in a dramatically different manner than earlier models and the tech's thinking was that it had something to do with the computer and that the fog light would interface with the computer as well. I had asked about changing the rear turn signals (red to amber) and installing the switch to get the rear fog light before picking up my car. But when told it would take two hours (at £98 an hour labor and £340 for parts) and possibly some wiring (?) to make the conversion I backed away because it wasn't required in my situation here.

Has anyone actually made this mod to a 2009 LCI and gotten the rear foglights to work in the States? What's the scoop?

The part is available, at least in the UK, and does work with a US spec 2009 E90 335i. Part number I have is 61319169404.

I 've contacted a UK dealer, Cotswold Gloucester, cotswoldgroup.com and they wanted £92 shipped to US (the price does not include tax). This is about $150! Can you "hook us up" with a dealer that is willing to ship overseas for a reasonable price?

Thanks,
Jim

Heres what I did -

I took the rear fog switch off my 2006 when i traded it in. Took the switch apart, then put the silver selector from the 2009 LCI swith onto my euro switch.

All the parts are the same, its the same switch with diffferent trim.

I think the only thing different about the MY09 switch is the chrome accent on the selector. On a related note, I'm selling my '08 switch with rear fog switch enabled: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296963

What I did was that I bought the pre-09 Euro switch assembly, then swapped only the rear fog button, the white spacer behind the button, and the circuit board into my 09 US switch assembly. This worked out great. I posted some pictures in the DIY section. Here's the link to my post, http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=558.
