A bunch of goodies going onto the XI tomorrow
I'm doing a little of handling, cooling, and braking upgrade tomorrow for the 335xi coupe. Here's the list:
Handling: KW V3 coil over suspension - plans to lower the car about 3.5 in the back and ~4cm in the front if weight distribution permits UUC sway bars Braking: Alcon 4-piston / 365mm BBK - probably the first on the board, did some research on the brake components of the i vs xi and they seem to be the same, so this should bolt right on Cooling: VK oil cooler I'll get my car back on Wednesday after my interview in the city on Tuesday is over.

Sure, planning to do the rear kit as well, also thinking about robbing some M3 suspension parts, plus an LSD

Alcon bolted right on, feels better than stock per shop Master Tech, will still try to find better street pads, likely Performance Friction for them.
Suspension is a little tricky...... the ZCP is rubbing against the fenders with the height set at ~1.25" lower than stock. Probably need to raise it and run some negative camber to clear it. If not, will try to roll the fenders or switch out for some thing with less aggressive offset like V710.

Nah, I think I'll be happy with the KW V3, UUC sway bars, M3 sub frame bushings, and the full Alcon BBK for a while. This is going to be the ultimate sleeper with all stock body cladings. LOL~

Happy with most of the upgrades. The wobbly feeling of the suspension is gone, but with the progressive springs, the top coils are sitting on top of each other creating this weird squeak, which I hate. Will need to replace the springs to get rid of that. The Alcon kit feels great too. The braking power is very linear, the mushy feeling when you first step on the brake pedal is gone. I'll post pictures later to show the ride height.

wow nice mods!!! So it looks like a BBK from a 335i will in fact fit the XI. I believe brembo was looking for local e9x's to test fit but I dont know whatever happened to that thread. I beleieve Craig @ SPP stated they were looking for a local person (West Coast) to test fit on an XI then later moved to Michigan?
Anyways car looks great!! |
