Anti-Seize on Brake Pads
Just got done installing the 2NH brake kit the other day and put anti-seize on the brake pads before installing those on. Afterwards I read that you're not suppose to put any on. Is there any harm in leaving it on or should I remove and clean it off?
Also, somehow scored one of the front rotors while doing a spin test. I thought it was seated all the way, but I brain farted. Big oof. I think it'll be fine seeing as the rotors will probably get scored from usage anyhow. |

Assuming you mean the anti-seize was applied on the back sides, in line with caliper pistons, yes I also would disassemble enough to clean it off. Anti-S does tend to dry out, and harden a bit. It is made for assembly of metal to metal and ease of later removals. The packet of lube enclosed in your brake kit would have been your best bet application. If you did not have that, then go to a decent auto parts store and get a plastic can of PERMATEX Brake Parts Lubricant. Sub titled: Ceramic Extreme. It is a purple silicone based prod. A mere light coat on back of pad where puck contacts piston will stop chatter and squeal. You Tube guys often use Anti-S but it is not best for brakes. Save it for mating bolt/nut parts. Hope that helps.

I don’t think applying any lubricant is necessary. I applied Permatex Brake Parts Lubricant once…after getting the brakes hot, it turned to a nasty black tar that was very hard to clean up. It could help with occasional brake noise, but not worth the side effects IMO.

Thank you all for the feedback. I will be removing the pads and cleaning off the anti-seize.
