What's the interior like? I don't think you should waste effort on the chrome. I like it as it is. What model year? What's its provenance?

It's a 1978 car, registered same day in 1978 as my Midgie was!!!

Interior is typical dodgy 70's cloth sort of stuff, in grey with stripes, not teared or marked though so will keep the original seats.

Gearknob has the most awful o/d switch ever, original has been bought along with a nice leather gaitor to replace the teared model it currently has.

Steering wheel is the molded plastic type, again as it is the original, I will keep this but have bought a nice black leather steering wheel with metal spokes (same as the Midget but leather instead of wood).

The great thing about the car is it is in such lovely condition, not original though as it was once red, now black though I think the black really suits it and the spray job has been done very well.

Chrome - again not sure on this, may do, may not! Will keep all the original bits for the car though so I can return it to original at any time.

Yeah, the paintjob looked remarkable for an old car so I suspected it had been resprayed. Is this a "buy, fix, and sell" project?

Looks nice Porscha, someone had fun painting up those wheels. Could use a chrome exhaust tip!

Is the hood out of adjustment or is it just not fully attached at the back?

I always lusted after cars with a slidey overdrive switch in the gear knob - its something I associate with all classic 60s and 70s BMC cars.

It doesn't handle badly, needs dropping though (rubber bumper cars handle worse than chrome bumper cars due to how MG set them up)

Not quite the same this one is an MGB last one was a Midget 1500.

Nope once upon a time (well last summer actually) it was red.

Paintwork is excellent but there is a very slight bit of orange peel on the back panel of the car (have to look very closely but it's there)

Not one bit of rot anywhere, no scratches whatsoever, 2 very, very small dents if you are being very critical.

This car is the best bargain I've even bought though!

Harsh, if you read my opening title I did specify no nasty comments, please.

Before you say I have made any nasty comments about BMWs, if you actually look at what I've wrote, I haven't. I would not make a comment like that about your car, so no need to make comments like that about mine, thanks.

Posted this up against my better judgement.

The thing I don't 'get' Porscha, is that these forums are for enthusiasts of a particular car?! Before my beemer I owned an Audi, and hence frequented an Audi forum to ask questions/learn about my car etc. When I was thinking of getting the E93, I joined this forum, again to ask questions/gain knowledge, etc.

I never thought for one minute, right I have just purchased a BMW, I think I will go and join an MG forum. Then post loads of pictures of various BMW's on there. Then start to make comments (often derogatory) on there that I 'hate old cars', and 'they have no driver aids', and 'how good my heater is' and 'my car started first time this mornin!' etc....

What kind of reaction do you think I would expect???????

mmmmmm I wonder!

Do you not think when it was red it was in fact red iron oxide (rusty). The reason it was repainted in the summer was to hide all the rusty bits under fresh black paint.

I owned/drove an old car once. It was full of rust, therefore all old cars are rusty.

How did the Disco compare round corners to the Midgie and Bertie. I expect it was closer than comparing it to a Diesel BMW
