440i Are these factory decals?

Are the "m performance" decals on my 2019 440i M Sport from the factory? Just bought the car. Maybe previous owner had these put on?

I don't think those are OEM. I am guessing the previous owner added them

the black side skirt decal is an OEM M-performance option. if genuine it is quite expensive, however many companies offer cheap replicas on ebay, etc. not sure if it's the photo or lighting in the photo but yours seems to be very faded or not well cared for.

Thank you for the links. So while it is an option.. do you know if it is an option on a 2019 440i gran coupe m sport from the factory? If not, I want to delete.

these are dealer or port installed options like carbon m-performance front lips, rear spoilers, rear diffusers, black kidney grills, etc. here are two gran coupes, 440i & 430i with all the M-performance options added on. not sure if it was done at the factory, port, dealership

https://www.tuningblog.eu/en/categor...tuning-164069/

all these items can be bought ala carte, can be OEM or replica and done by professionals or DIY at home.

personally, if it's genuine, i would get a quality trim coating and restore the blackness, satin-ess of the vinyl. however, if you don't care for it regardless, remove them.

TJ62r What's your definition of "factory"?

Factory = how the car rolled out from the Munich plant?
Factory = how the car was received by the customer at the dealership?

While you can order a car with M Performance parts (ie exhaust, decals, body trim), M Performance parts are not installed at the Munich plant.

M Performance parts are generally either installed at the Vehicle Distribution Center (Port Hueneme - since you're in CA, and assuming the original owner purchased in CA), or by the dealership before a customer takes ownership of a new car.

If you look at the 4 Series M Performance Rocker Panel Decal Set installation instructions, it looks like OEM M Performance side skirt decal turns the whole side skirt black... I can't see well in your photo if it's the whole skirt, or just the words M Performance. But again, just as alohasurftoad mentioned, there's a bunch of aftermarket versions as well.

I was trying to understand if the plant/dealer did this or if the previous owner slapped these on. Thank you for clarifying.

When I purchased the mppsk for my 340 I received a pair of these to put on my side skirts. So in my case they were genuine bmw decals. The dealer could have put these on for me as part of the mppsk install. In my case I chose not to install them. But there are definitely bmw genuine decals that look like this. Hope that helps.

Indeed as some others have stated, they're OEM. I have the MPPSK and the decal came with my car I have the version with just M Performance decal without the black decal that covers most of the rocker panel. OP has the full black version but either it's a bad picture or it's faded.

Not sure why it matters if "it came from the factory". I've seen cars in the showroom with them, so why would it matter if it was OEM or aftermarket?

If you don't like them, strip them and all the rest of the badging. If you do, keep them. It's a BMW, it's not a unicorn. Just enjoy it.

FWIW I bought my '17 F36 with MPPSK package from factory, it's on the window sticker, and it has the side decals.

It "matters" because I was curious. I was unaware, hence the reason I came to this board. It's not essential for you to understand what the motive is behind my question.

On the unicorn... thanks for clearing that up. I swore my bimmer was winged and shitting skittle rainbows.
