N54 Rod knock?

So I’ve been experiencing some weird knocking sound… it’s higher pitch than most rod knock and it’s really fast paced. And since this knocking has occurred I’ve gotten codes P0420 and P0430 which led to me thinking it was the injectors but I discontinued the electrical connectors and the knocking consisted…. Is it rod knock?

It sounds like my 2011 335i after I had spun bearing. I suggest you remove the serpentine belt to eliminate other mechanical moving parts to see the knocking goes away. Or you can remove the oil filter to examine any fine metallic material (from rod bearing). Stop driving the car until you know where is the knock coming from.

[QUOTE=Glene;29285266]It sounds like my 2011 335i after I had spun bearing. I suggest you remove the serpentine belt to eliminate other mechanical moving parts to see the knocking goes away. Or you can remove the oil filter to examine any fine metallic material (from rod bearing). Stop driving the car until you know where is the knock coming from. If it's actually a rod knock and just happened, you may able to save the crankshaft...replacing the bearings and on your way.
