Seat Sensor Indicators

My OCD is getting the best of me. Can someone do me a favor and let me know if your seat sensor indicators behave like this on start? No one in any of the seats but me. Looks like the passenger seat clears quickly. The driver clears on buckle, but the rear seats take 20-30 seconds to clear, possibly on drive off. Thanks in advance.

I had my passenger seat mat replaced last week, which got me into examining the light indicator functionality. I am unclear on what you are contributing to my question in terms of behavior?

My 2019 540i does the same thing. Anything sitting on the seat?

Thanks. The back seat? No. I am not posting this because I think there is a problem, just looking for confirmation that this is how it works for others.

I think the back seat is supposed to linger longer to make sure there is no one getting into the back seat. The back seat sensor pads also do not need to be calibrated, registered or initialized like the front seats do.

Joe, do you mean the rear seatbelt warning will not clear when nothing is on seats ? Just asking for clarification.
What is weird is i've never had any seatbelt warnings and regularly have groceries and other items on both my back seats and passenger seat with no chimes or light warnings ever.

Hey Mark, no, that is not an issue. My video may not be clear. Basically when I start the car (I'm always alone for the most part), I get five seat sensor indicators in the upper left console. The passenger is the first to clear quickly, the driver shuts off when I buckle up. The remaining three rear seat indicators clear after about 20 seconds. It's always worked like this, but am curious if other find the same. I don't really have any issues so to speak, like a false warning message or chime or a check control.

Just went and started her up for you. Upon initial start I see all 4, then very quickly the passenger seat goes out. About 20 seconds later the rears go out and finally when I click in, mine goes out. So I think you're good to go!
On live cockpit/ I Drive 7 they are at the bottom, but it still should not matter.

same behavior on my 2019. When my kids are in the car and their seat belt is buckled when I start the car it will show green for the respective buckled seat and red for the others.

Thanks. Good to know. I can count the number of times someone sat in my backseat on one hand in the last year😂

Same here, chief. on ID6, the 3 red rear ones take the longest to clear - always figured it was by design for some reason (your reasoning sounds the most plausible).
I think they turn green if they're used/buckled in at that moment - not sure of the exact timing

Joe, just to add to others, this is the way my 2019 540xi works. The passenger's goes out first, mine when I buckle up and the rears take a bit longer. Your situation looks normal to me. --Bob

While I'm on this thread. Just want to give a shout out to ProTool. I had the dealer install the sensor mat and I asked them not to touch any software or coding on my car. They obliged. The mat still needed to be calibrated and initialized. The guys at ProTool connected to my car and took care of me free of charge.

True dat. I had back passengers today and the light turned green at the same time I heard the seatbelt click.
