Rock Chips
So whats the best way to repair rock chips? Obviously the best way to prevent it would be to get a clear bra but its already too late for that.
Had a nice cruize with 15 or so other bmws today but my car picked up about 6 rock chips..4 on bumper and 2 on hood. I was thinking about getting some touch up paint but I dont know how well that would work. How much are the bumpers(Euro) and hoods btw?

I had to get a clearbra done. Didn't want to do it at first just to save some green, but after one week of driving, I knew it would be more costly down the road. I called Bline for a quote to repaint my bumper, and they quoted me $900. Sheeiit, I just left it and put a clear bra on. BMW paint sucks.

Best way to apply touch up
I do this for my customers upon request along with the detail service that I provide. I recommend using a paper match stick for this. You will need to cut the bottom of the match stick at angle, and use this as your applicator. It is cleaner that the brush that comes with the touch up, and wont glob up. Dip the match stick into the paint sparingly and apply to the chip. Keep the touch up inside the chipped area, try not to overlap on good paint. If this is done with patience you should see the results. sometimes if the chip is deep a second coat may need to be applied.
If you know how to colorsand, you could give it a final 2500 or 3000 grit wet sand on the repair area, polish, then buff and wax. When your done the results will be incredible !!!!! Dave Innovative Detailing www.innovativedetailing.com |
