Help - Trim Changing Color

Need some help here. As some of you know, I had and accident and I'm working through getting the repair done right. On the back there is a trim piece, shown by the red arrow below:

I bought the car used, but the piece on my car was blue, as are the matching trim pieces in the front. The body shop is telling me the part only comes in black and it looked blue on my car from UV fading.

So, are they being straight with me? Is this true or should I expect the part to actually be blue?

I'd say that the shop is telling you what is available to replace the part so don't sense they are trying to pull your chain. If it only comes in black would that be so bad? Black trim on a white car looks good in my opinion but of course with your other pieces being blue that throws a wrinkle in things. I wonder if they could paint match the new trim piece with the existing ones.

If it is part 51127314357 (https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-2...uine-bmw-part/), there are not any other part numbers for any different colour, it is just available in black. If it is not coloured due to weathering, then a previous owner would have had to have it painted.

Thanks. I have seen other white 2016 BMWs and the trim was blue also. I almost bought a 4 series because it was a perfect color match to my 2 series.

Found this older thread about the black trim turning purple or blue, I guess it's a thing. We bought our car used so it was just blue when we got it, so I thought that's the way it was supposed to be.
