Transmission Noise?

Hello all,

I have a 2005 X3 2.0d with a 6-speed manual transmission and lately i get a strange clunk noise only when releasing the clutch in order to change 1st to 2nd gear, or stepping/releasing the gas pedal.

You can slightly feel the noise on the shift bar.

Any ideas what this might be..?

Have an 06 2.5 with 6 spd manual, and noticed the same problem.
Took it to a dealer (car is under BMW warranty) and they said it is normal for BMW X-drive. This only occurs if you rapidly release the clutch, and is caused by some free play in the driveline gear set. Strange, but not much we can do about it.
