Post halogens to Xenon again

Hi Guys,

I'm opening the can of worms again...

I've read the DIY from the members and BMW retrofit guide and have some questions.

If i just want Xenon's like many other folks who don't care about level sensors + AHL what do you need ?

I know just the Headlights with starters and lamps is not enough.

what about Parachute's kit will it work without fog lights and no noise no errors ?

The Questions really is "How to get the xenon's plug n play without errors"

Thanks in advance,

/A

If you Just want the xenons to work you just have to modify the wiring inside the lights, remove your bumper, install the lights plug your existing harness to the lights and it should work providing you modified it the right way. None of that other wiring in the BMW Retrofit guide is mandatory.

Hi Chesterfan,

Agree but the car computer is expecting lights to use 55W while Xenon is 35W this difference should cause an error and give the annoying warning or to shutdown the light completely.

what my finding is either you add something to make it 55w (like Parachute kit) or reprogram the computer to 35W

Can someone confirm this ?

Thanks,
/A

Just to Stir up the conversation here are some links explaining what our friends with older 3-series are doing.

http://www.bmwdiy.info/resistor-packs/index.html

The Hella solution looks solid but i can not find any info on the web.

There also a build your own kit at:

http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/C...lowbeamfix.htm

Does anyone know what is BMW foot well Module is it just another resistor pack or what.

Pls Feel free to comment!

Thanks,

Buddy I have a 35w HID setup.
Instead of using The Stock Ballasts, The stock D1s Wiring was connected to resistors to prevent error codes. Then I purchased a pair of HID ballasts, a wiring harness and connected them. The Wiring harness gets power from the + terminal in the engine and grounds itself down. The computer is not giving power to the lights, instead the + Terminal is whenever your low beams are initiated.
I have this setup now and no problems whatsoever

Ok If i understand correctly currently you power the ballasts from + in the engine bay and ground.

Q. How do you control the lights + up & down adj ?

Sorry if this sounds like investigation i'm just trying to find a simple solution for myself and people out there in the same situation as me.

Thanks,
/A

the lights are stationary and don't move unless you wire in the entire setup for the adaptive lights.

the projector headlights are meant so that when you have an HID bulb( A bright area filling bulb) it can distribute it without making it blind people. If you put an HID bulb in a non-halogen set it won't look bad but it kills the point. I'd just get a Super White Halogen Bulb. Blue is too ricer-ish for BMW's IMHO.

Hi Chesterfan,

What i'm trying to do is swap the original halogens with OEM Xenon light assembly and then add a bit of kit to avoid the warning from the system.

I'm aware of the aftermarket HID kits into the halogens light assembly and i've seen it work this is not what i'm after the point is getting OEM look without going the whole yard.

Your setup seems interesting & might be a way forward

Q. Are you using something similar to: http://xenon-vision.com/battery.html

I've also seen this http://xenon-vision.com/flicker.html sold by the same vendor as above.

Guys pls comment !

Thanks,

/A

this is my thread regarding a halogen to xenoen conversion
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=halogen
I have a modified XENOEN light assembly with an aftermarket HID kit. It looks exactly stock, except in whitish blue

you dont necessarily need the parachute kit. I offer a halogen to xenon "error free" harness if you need it. Its basically a resistor/relay harness. PM me

I personally have this harness on my car and its works flawlessly
