Low coolant message

Hi,
Recently bought a 435i which blew a coolant hose within 48 hours, I went at got it repaired at a reputable shop and a full coolant flush was done. Since then after driving in start stop traffic a low coolant message shows up, this is incorrect as there is more than enough coolant in the reservoir.

* Temps are fine
*Doesn't happen on freeways/cruising
* The low coolant message goes away the next day unless its in start stop traffic
* It's been bled multiple times.

Anyone have an idea what's wrong with it?

The first step with any and all problems is to use a code reader.

...followed by googling the resultant error code to figure out how other people solved the same problem.

i wonder if the bleeding procedures just made the sensor go out, as long as you see the coolant level the same when you physically check it, then it's probable a faulty sensor. i'm assuming they used the correct coolant?

When you say bled, you mean using the procedure through the vehicle right that uses the electric pump? You don't bleed these the traditional way

They did it using the vehicle's electric pump and I've done it again 3 times, with the bleeder open once as well

Yeah they used the correct coolant, do you have a link for the sensor/ video to install it or do you have to replace the whole reservoir tank

no sorry i don't, have no experience in fixing the sensor. this is an issue i read/seen videos of before where people just live with the warning because of a faulty sensor. although, i personally would want to fix that issue for peace of mind.

Sounds like the shop didn't finish repairing it.

I don't have my Bentley handy, but it would be a good resource to have if you're going to DIY repairs.

does your low coolant warning go away, like a say next morning?
if so, then shop did not bleed your car. Look p how to bleed coolant in bmw f30.
it's very easy and it takes 10 to 12 min.....all electronically.

if the code is still present in the morning, and you have enough coolant then it's the sensor.
for this, you will need to replace the entire reservoir bottle as the sensor comes with it.

By the way, this is a less common issue with these cars.

Do you have a part number for the reservoir with the sensor? As all the ones I've seen in fcp euro and ecs tuning don't code with a sensor, just the reservoir with pins for the sensors.
