I posted this in the Engine, Exhaust, Drivetrain, Tuning Modifications section but it hasn't gotten much traction so I figured I'd post it in the General Discussions section for more visibility....
I’m going to be taking my 2019 540i to the Dragstrip sometime soon to do a couple runs and see what I can get out of it . I’ve searched and can’t find any 1/4 mile times for a 540i at an actual dragstrip. Lots of m550s but no 540s. I have a Racechip GTS Black and Dinan exhaust. I’m expecting mid 12s at 110 or so but am just curious if anyone else has been and what they ran? I live in Maryland and will be going to MIR which is one of the fastest strips in the country. 80’ above sea level with very good DA this time of year. I bought a new C6 Z06 back in 2008 and used to take it to the dragstrip all of the time but haven’t been since I sold it back in 2011.

Car & Driver tested a 2017 and recorded 13.2 @ 109. Their test of a 2021 showed 13.3 @ 106.

With your mods, your goal of mid 12s is probably not far off.

Very impressive numbers. Many, many years ago when I had a 1968 Hemi Roadrunner in 1970, it was basically the fastest stock American car of its era. Car & Driver posted its quarter mile time as 13.5/105 and I was able to match that at Lions Dragway in LA (on Firestone Wide Ovals!). And my 1995 Corvette ZR-1 when stock also ran a 13.4/108. (I later had it modified by mostly porting, headers and tuning to 510 hp and a 12.4/118 quarter)) I always felt those cars were very fast when I owned them, so it does my heart good to know that my 2019 540xi is also plenty fast. If I want faster I can always run my 2016 Z06 (10.95/127) but for a very comfortable everyday driver a 540 is hard to beat (although an M550xi would certainly be fun ) --Bob
