Who wants M pack option for the 128 in the U.S.???

I really think this should be an optional extra, as far as pacakges are concerned at least.

And if they ever sell the 123d in the U.S. it would nice as an option on that car as well.

I would like to see it offered. Depending on pricing I may be buying a 128 and the M sport pack will really make me want the car that much more if I can't swing a 135

i am after the 135 motor. I like the M Sport look, but if they stuffed it into the "base" look, well, i guess that would grow on me.... :P

I will only consider buying a 128i if an M Sport package is available. It's an option on the European 120d and 123d. Let's hope it's also available on the 128i.

Garage List
If the M Package includes the suspension and brakes (or if they're offered as well) then it would definitely be an option

Most Diffidently, but I suspect it will be exclusive to the 135i. :frown:

The 128 should be at least available with a (lowered) sport suspension and optional 18 inch wheels. It looses a lot visually without the larger wheels especially. I don't need the performance level of the 135 for my driving.

My guess is that they won't offer the full "M-Sport" package with all the aero body pieces, interior trim, etc. I don't think they'd dilute their brand by offering an M1 variant of this car, so they need a differentiated 135 to get them close to that "M" variant appeal. If they offer a 128 that LOOKS like a 135, they're going to lose a lot of 135 sales to 128s with M-Sport.

I am planning to buy the 128i IF they at least offer the same kind of Sport Package that they offer on the 3-series. All I need are the sport suspension, bigger wheels and performance tires. I can live without the aero stuff. BUT, if there is no sport package option for the 128, I'll be going with the 135.

Hard to say no. I don't expect it will be available in year 1. I think a lot will become available with time, but they'll want to control perception by limiting choices for the first couple of model years.

I think that you are spot on. In time we might eventually even see a M1, but initially I agree that BMW will limit choices. Depending on sales of the 1er they will then add models and options in the coming years.

Understandably we all want everything now, but unfortunately the "Easy Button" doesn't always work when you want it to.

123d with a sport or M package would be exactly what I need.
Add the HIDs and where out the door.

Where do I sign?

After listening to the 120d on YouTube, I'm getting more and more impressed with BMW's diesel technology. Although my first instinct is to go with a 135i, a 123d M Sport might be a better long-term choice for me. The Eta engine in the 325e I had back in '84 had a power band similar to the engine in the 123d.

Where's that "Easy Button"? I'm ready to sign, too.

i wish that it were optional on the 135 instead of standard; call me heretical to the enthusiasts but i wanted a 135 for my daily driver. even in the warmer weather i spend a lot of time on crappy roads- those 35 series rears are gonna be a little punishing.

I think the M1 is too good an opportunity for BMW to pass up. It would be a truly special car, if done correctly. But announcing it along with the regular 1-Series would be a mistake. They have to let the model build credibility and have fans screaming for an M1...

The 135i and 128i launch for NA is spot on. I think we'll see diesels and an M1 in the not to distant future... I also think we'll see a 128i M Sport.

A lightly equiped 128 would be fine with me... No M sport needed. I'm sure the aftermarket will have the suspension bits and aero kits anyways if I wanted to go that route...

I'm just looking for a light, cheap, fun, fuel efficient, rwd 2+2 coupe...

There's not gonna be any M1.
No way BMW is using that name for this kind of car anyways.
M1 was the ONLY supercar made with hands of Lamborghini some 20 years back.
If they're making an M division for the 1-series, which I highly doubt, they will probably name it 1M instead of M1.

As far as the M-sport package goes, I couldn't really care less.

I would really like a 128 with the 5 spoke wheels shown on the 135. But looking at the german spec sheet at the link below, the 5 spoke wheel information has something about the 135 (2nd page of the scanned image near the top, the last entry in the table - it has "Serie 135"). I am wondering if the 5 spoke wheel will only be available on the 135. If that is the case I will be really unhappy. I think that is the best looking wheel of all the options.

BMW has an incredibly funny way of doing things. The wheels you speak of(Star spoke 264) probably will only be available on the 135 and not even an option on the 128, unlike in the U.K. where there on an option on the "Lesser" models. While I love BMW I think BMW NA is incredibly retarded, at least their product planners.

According to the UK brochure, the 120i/123i M Sport versions will include 17-inch 207M wheels.

1 Series Coupe Brochure (UK)

You can see a picture of the 207M wheels in the German dealer sheet (Page 11).

1 Series Coupe Dealer Sheet (Germany)

If the 128i will have an optional M Sport package, I'm guessing it will come with the 207M wheels. Perhaps somebody with some Photoshop skills can Photoshop these 207M wheels into a 135i picture.
