Gas Tank size for US-spec 135i?

Did anyone notice this spec? I missed it, if it's been published.

Thanks!

I suspect that it will the same size as in the 1 Series hatches. I thought that I had that info, but I haven't been able to track it down. Work is cutting into my 1er time. :frown:

I believe the tank in a Euro-spec 1 Series hatch is 13.8 gallons, IIRC.

Imperial or US ?

If that's Imperial gallons then that works out to be about 16.5 US gallons.

Keep in mind that the 1er Coupe is about the same size as a E46 Coupe. The E46 held approx. 17 US gallons. All three of the E30s that I had had held 15 US Gal.

Why wouldn't you want a larger gas tank?

Should be about 15-20 gallons if you ask me. That way you make less trips to the gas station. And those folks worried about weight? All they have to do is not fill up the tank. that way they'll end up with whatever fuel amount they want. Bigger tank adds more flexibilty IMO.

I like a large tank too, but maybe the weight issue is one reason for a smaller tank. Weight is measured with the tank 90% full and BMW might be embarassed enough by the 1er's heft

That's cool but you can always put in whatever amount of fuel you want (hence maintaining the 52/48). If you wan't to put more fuel in the car, the additional fuel (in the rear of the car) should put the weight distribution closer to 50/50 which isn’t too shabby.
