Car and Driver 1er write up.
Sure you guys saw this
http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/...-and-info.html What I was interested about was the tire comment at the beginning of the 2nd page. I wonder if "high performance rubber" on the 135i means no run flats, or if that was just a generic choice of words. |

Well the review of the 08 M3 in the same issue says they come with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. That would be nice if they put them on the 135i too.
Can you believe the M3 weighs 3650 lbs. with a CF roof |

Give me the 135, a Quaife LSD, and software tweak and I'll give that $70K, 400 lb. heavier, M3 V8 a run for the money.

Same thing I'm thinking. It isn't that a 135i will be better than the M3. Let's be honest here, that V8 is pure sex. It is just that I can be in the same performance ball park with half the money. That is cool by me. Not to mention that with software, I will be putting out more than the M3 at 6K feet.

If you assume 400hp and 400TQ for tuned 135i at altitude (no loss from altitude with turbo) and 415hp and 340 ft-lbs of torque from M3 at sea level, the M3 will only make around 320hp and 262 ft-lbs of torque at 6,000 ft. Not even close. Then remember that the M3 weighs several hundred pounds more. It is no contest (even a stock 135i will be significantly faster than an M3 at 6,000ft). Even a stock 335i will be faster than an M3 at altitude - tough to move the M3's off the dealers' lots in the mountain states... |
