Anyone wondered what the hell? No Cupholders?! Answers here...

There was a recent spy photo of the 08 cabrio 1 series camo'd but there is an interior shot which if you follow this link http://www.motorauthority.com/wp-con...brio/18769.jpg you'll see the attachment to the side of the gear shifter. If you don't get the iDrive option, then you will have both cupholders in their spots ahead and under the armrest. Hope this helped someone, I had always wondered what happened to those dash cup holders from the new 3.

No cupholders is fine with me. I do not allow drinks or food in my autos. Germans are not drinkers in their autos. Mainly smokers...

Lol, I know you're the Ultimate Driver and all...but everyone has their kryptonite and cravings here and there. What if you and your significant other are both craving Wendy's after a nice walk on the beach? Or if you wanted to go for coffee etc.

I'm like you, I have a soft rule about no food and drinks in my car. But sometimes when you're passing by an A&W and Papa burgers are on special, you just gotta stop in. Cupholders do have their purpose and come in handy somtimes. It's like your appendix. You might not need it, but it's always better to have it in your body.

I'd want my car to have at least two cup holders.

What about the space between the seats in the backseat? I'm sure you could retrofit some cup holders back there or soemthing? :iono:

I try to keep the car as clean as I can but if soda spills or food dropped on the carpet. Oh wells... I will clean it up.

As described in previous threads, there are cupholders very similar to those found on E46 BMWs. However, when the vehicle is equipped with iDrive (as is such in the press photos), the first of the cupholders (and the most visible) is deleted to make room for the iDrive controller. Otherwise, you get two cupholders, one in front of the center console, and one just below the center console which you presumably lift up to access.

As for the attachment cupholder (similar to the one used in the 6 Series), there have a couple of Coupe spy shots that have shown this attachment but I dont believe any press photos have this. I would presume, therefore, that the only reason that it is the spy shots is because the testing equipment made the standard cupholders inaccessible.

cupholder yes

I use the car on daily basis. I have nieces so I cant get to excited (but will hate any imperfection) about it. Cant replace them, can and will replace the 135 in 2 years. Not my problem. Deposit, Jet Black, Black. Now I feel old but it is just stuff.

No, and we probably never will from BMW since they want to sell iDrive.

On the german configurator site you can see interior pictures without it after you have built your car. There is a link to the site a couple threads away.

You need to be humbled with an afternoon with a 4 year old in the back seat.

+1. I'm pretty strict, but with kids (I have 2 daughters: 6 and 4) flexibility helps. You should see my wife's car, though.

Looking forward to that day, but not there yet. I suspect the thing about neatness is probably a big part of why I'm not there yet.
