Next speculation: above or below MSRP, and when?

Factors to figure into speculation: buyer demand, production availability, happiness of first owners. Perhaps others. I suppose they'll change MSRP if dollar vs. euro changes.

Somebody mentioned somewhere some dealer verbally stated that they will honor MSRP if good deposit was committed right now, then MSRP+ $1k for first six months, MSRP+ $500 for next six months, coming back to flat MSRP after 12 months if all goes as planned.

What do you think?

I think the 36.5 has knocked off some of the potential buyers who were hoping for a dirt cheap deal. Although in So California this doesn't mean much. You can have 20k on a BMW and it will still sell

I'd say only shady dealers that i would run away from will be charging over MSRP

When I put my deposit down .. I got MSRP in writing .. ofcoarse if they would offer lower than MSRP I'd be on that .. I don't think you will get this car for under MSRP for at least a year .. I don't think there will be the same #s hitting the dealership as the 3 series and it will keep demand up ...

Yeah, I think that's EXACTLY what the bean counters at BMW are banking on -- for such a low production quantity relative to the 3 as they suggest (only 20k units?!), while actual sales from '04-'06 abroad have proven robust, it's just tight control to bolster and buff their MSRP.

I won't buy till 09 when hopefully dealers are willing to move on the price, then try to negotiate from msrp or negotiate ED base.

I'll bet we sell all cars at MSRP for sometime.

It was until just recently that was our policy on MINI's.

And what's your best loan rate for somebody with excellent credit?

(topic admittedly borrowed from another discussion, but somewhat relevant here)

Okay.

It's funny, and maybe apropos, how you say BMW Financing is "in sales" (as opposed to being in a separate department from where you can glean a simple factual number to report here), yet you comment earlier on the validity of MSRP...

Seems like your job would be more secure if cars don't somehow get negotiated below MSRP for whatever reason unknown to you.

F&I is considered part of the sales department at my Center.

That number isn't so simple either

For the 135i, quite a bit under MSRP sooner than expected. Too many flaws with this car for it to sell well enough to demand a premium, or even MSRP. Within two years, serious trunk money.
