My BMW app- car updates

This is puzzling me and I could not find an answer anywhere.. Maybe someone here knows?

My BMW app continues to receive updates from the car even though it didn't move/wasn't turned on, and has no e-sim.

an Example would be like:
8:00 am: turned off the car and went up to my office.
11:00 am: I check my bmw app and it says last updated at 10:30 am.

How is my car sending data to BMW? is it something like apple air tags where the air tag sends update whenever a phone is near by?

AFAIK, every BMW has cellular, satellite, and GPS antennas. While not every feature is unlocked for end users, BMW itself absolutely has constant connections to the car to push updates, upload telematics to the phone apps, and enable SOS calls.

If you drive wearing an aluminum helmet it will block all updates.

Mine says it hasn't been updated since 11/1. That's when I parked it and connected the battery tender. It's in a residential garage so maybe it isn't able to signal the mother ship.

question for the communicatiion between app and car:

I had my last BMW 3 years ago (idrive 6) and here the communication was slow sending commands.

Is this better with an G42 ?
will the commands be sent over SMS oder Bluetooth ?
