wheel offset

will a offset of 35 fit in the front or would it have to be 43 or 45 on a 19" wheel?

If anyone can answer this, it would be great. I am trying to order a set of wheels, and I dont know what the correct offset is.
TIA

ET35 is way too low in my opinion. Though the wheel would technically fit on the car, it will likely rub badly. It will stick out past the fender edge. See these threads for examples:

Of course what offset will work depends on the width of the wheel you'll be running. I'll be looking for an ET48-52 for an 18X8.5, though we are yet to see if the 1er can handle that much wheel up front.

do you think that ET43 or ET45 would work on a 19" X 8.5 all the way around?

It's hard to say at this point. It appears as though the standard wheel size of 17X7.5 up front with an ET49 is nearly flush with the fender. If you run an 19X8.5 ET43 you're going to be 19mm further out than that; 19X8.5 ET45 will extend an extra 17mm from stock. Looking at the photos and hearing what people are running on the E87 in Europe and elsewhere, I can't see that size fitting without some degree of rubbing. The coupe may be different and a fender roll may change that, but I wouldn't suggest such wheel dimensions from a purely functional standpoint. But then again, we are already talking about 19's here so...
That said, AC Schnitzer uses 19X8.5 ET43 on their 1ers. Here's a photo of minfred's car from over on babybmw.net:

So, you'd have company running that offset. You may need to note that these guys have been running lower HP cars than the 135i and haven't had the need/desire to run really wide tires. So on that wide 8.5 wheel, this guy is running a 225 tire without rubbing. Wider tires, like say a 245, may result in rubbing with the very same offset/width combination.
