Lease-End Inspection Question

I am planning on leasing a 128i (I know the rates are high - but I am getting a good discount through my uncle) and I'd like to know how strict bmw is when it comes to the lease-end inspection. What do they look for? What is considered normal wear and tear? Are rock chips on the front hood considered normal wear and tear? I shouldn't get charged for that right? I don't plan on putting any clear bra on a leased car.

Thanks

why don't you ask your uncle? does he work at the dealership? It's nice he got you a discount... haha I know someone who knows someone well at a dealership, but a VW one, and that's what I currently drive! haha

When I bought my current car, there were good guidelines for wear and tear on manufacturer's websites. Heck, I even think bmw.ca had some good ones. Why don't you try that? A call to the parts/service department might help too.

I think there is an insurance you can buy so that you are not liable for door dings, scratches, tire wear etc. after the lease is up. I know that Mercedes has one. Enquire with your dealership to see if they have something similar.

Yeah, most dealers offer a plan where you pay about $30-40 a month and you can turn the vehicle in with a cracked windshield, bald tires, door dings and scratches and not have to pay anything.

I did that on my CX-7 and I'm glad I did. The tires will be nearly bald when it goes back, the windshield has rock chips and there are some scratches and door dings.

I figure for the $29~ a month it cost me ($700 for 24 months) it's worth it... a set of tires alone would have been more than that.
