I'd imagine the engine bay bits [like an airbox or ECU piggyback] will be either identical or very close. Obviously the turbo-back exhaust is different being single sided and shorter overall.

I'd like to know if downpipes will fit. If so, I'd pick up a set for my 335i now and tranfer them onto a 135 in a year when the 09's come out.

I very much doubt an exhaust component will fit... I bet it will be close, possible so close a local shop could alter them but they will need some kind of alteration... The length, wheelbase, and the underneath are different so the chance of the fitting would be very slim

There will be plenty of after market stuff available for the 1er. Not to worry. That may or may not help you if you are picking up your car this weekend though.

Pretty darn sure the DPs will fit. I think it's the same part number on all N54 cars.

Engine bay stuff, intake, piggys, etc, should also fit.

Helix has also said they're pretty sure based on photos that their IC will fit just fine.

They already have downpipes for the 535i. Are you saying that there's a good chance they will work on all the 1, 3, and 535i applications?

Downpipes for the 335i DO NOT work on the 535i or vice versa. You can be certain the 135i will be different as well.

Thanks for the info, I thought they were the same part number.

Here's a Link of a guy that bought downpipes for a 335i for his 535i and they are WAY DIFFERENT. The manufacturer Ultimate-Racing admitted fault for assuming they were the same since they have the same BMW part number.

Wow, that's funny. I wonder which DP they would send you if you ordered with the part number. It sounds like there are three or more distinct, different parts that share the same part number...
