I haven't heard of it before, but I assume it's similar to Rain-X. Rain-X seems to be the most popular product in this catagory, if you haven't heard of it before. Sorry I'm not more informative on your original question though lol..

Personally, I have had bad experiences with RainX gumming up wipers, and I refuse to use it. I can't say much for Aquapel since I've never heard of it.

Remember these cars have rain sensing wipers as well as intermittant. I think because of having both of those, would make this Aquapel irrelevant (if it even works).

Much better than rain-x. I have used Aquapel on my MINI before I thought I needed new wipers... It does make the rain water bead kinda like rain-x but it also seems to make the wipers more effective.. unlike my experience with rain-x in the past which made it hard to see through the haze on each wiper pass..

I need a product that protects the windshield from sand pitting, which here in the high desert will turn a new windshield to crap inside 12 months. I'm going to do clearbra for paint, but the windshield is at severe risk. In New Mexico windshields are replacement items like brake pads.

What could possibly be done to protect the windshield? For sure glass can be poished though. Griot's makes a glass polish (2 types in fact) that you can use with an orbital polisher.

On a side note, claying works great on windhields to get sap off, which makes the wipers stick and operate with a jerky motion (a problem we have all summer long here in Germany).

I'll have to try some glass polish on my wife's 9-month-old Cooper S, which is already sand pitted.

I've been using RainX for over 20 years and have never had the wipers gum up.

When we bought the Cayman we received a product to protect the windshield from damage, scratches, pits, etc.
It's called Diamon-Keep.
The car is only 1.5 years old so I don't know about the long term protection of this product, but it seems it might be worth a try.
The only negative I've found is that I have trouble really cleaning the glass with this stuff on it.
Anyway........read away here http://www.diamonfusion.com/en/products/improves.html

Aquapel rocks. I apply it 2x a year and rarely have to use my wipers. Only when it's barely misting do I have to occasionally use the wipers. Starts beeding off at 35mph for me.
