What/when will you make your first Mods?

I recall a "first mods" post a while back, but rather than bump a months-old post, I thought I'd start new...

My list of mods will be CDV Delete, RR Downpipes, CAI, and probably Procede (assuming they get v2.1 released).

Is everybody going to wait for the breakin beriod to end before doing their mods?

I guess it all depends on what people are looking to do. Some will seek ultimate efficiency without ruining their warranty, while some people will not care about warranty and just build over the design of this car and turn it into, yet another drag car.

I'm going to put at least 7k miles on the car before I do any "performance" or engine modifications. I feel this is the easiest way to know you have a solid foundation (engine) to start with. There is no proof of this, but I feel modifying the engine before it is broken in, effects the engines longevity.

Other than cosmetic mods (CF rear valance, CF mirrors, CF spoiler, etc) and enhancements such as a strut brace or light weight rims & V1, aid in the 135i's over-all handling and quickness. One of the last modification I would do would be the downpipes.

I would rather work on an efficient intake and as cooling it as much as possible into the engine before I work the exhaust side. Mainly because I would rather de-stress the engine and make gains that way before I tamper with emissions and illegal exhausts or downpipes. Front mount intercooler, BMW performance airbox, Dinan oil cooler are all easier mods to remove if I want to start running a stock class, etc.

I am undecided as to what engine tune I will be going with, but nothing on the market really strikes me as great, other than the expensive Dinan flash. Conforti's Shark will probably be a better choice.

I've always started with suspension first in any car I mod, and since I want this car to behave like a proper RWD car, I'll be tackling the understeer first with some more robust sway bars. I'm not sure whether this car needs to be lowered, but that would be my next consideration.

Next up would be tire and wheel upgrade to handle any extra power that may come (see below) as well as a Quaife LSD if I'm not happy with the eLSD.

Then, maybe I might consider an ECU upgrade, though I'm not dedicating to this mod at the moment. I'm coming from a Civic, so this car I know is going to blow me away power-wise, and I may be happy for a long while.

I actually am thinking about the Dinan tune.. I've always had cars and modified them. THey never end up being right because you put 300whp into a chassis that is designed for 120whp something wont be right shakes here rattles there.. no more cheaping out for me.

So my list will be a Dinan tune and probably a CAI and/or a set of D/Ps

I'm thinking about Dinan, maybe 6-8 months out (if I can resist it that long). It all depends if I want to sink $$ into modding this car or save up to buy another toy, like an old 911 or something

multiple sources have explained/detailed that the n54 is made to work w/ dvs, not bovs. are you doing it simply for the sound?

I will likely leave that beastly N54 alone for a few thousand miles...as for my plans in no specific order

-tint from dealership
-shadowline grill
-lighter wheels
-H&R sports
-sway bars
-cat back
-drop in AF
