Cup Holders in the 1er

Sorry if this question was asked. I was not able to find an answer.

I saw the 1er in flesh today at Brian Jessel. Saw in the 135i and the 128iC. The two cars didn't have Navigation yet it had that cheap clip-on cup holder. Does anyone know if this 'Thing' can be removed? It looks really really cheap.

The base of the cupholder slides into a slot on the right side if the console. Simply lift the cupholder out slowly and carefully.

+1.
I took a 128i Cabrio for a test spin today and saw that attached to the passenger side of the console..
I'm not a fan of the look. Good to know I can remove it (and list it on eBay :biggrin.
Other than that, the 128i Cabrio was a blast..

That's the exact same "cheap" cupholder that appears in the M6. It does pop out easily, and there's a nice receptacle it plugs into, so that when removed, it doesn't leave an unsightly hole there.

I'm going to buy an extra one of these cupholders, and finagle a nav onto it. Easy to pop in, easy to take out of sight.

If anybody doesn't want theirs, lemme know.

So where can I get the receptacle that plugs into the hole after the cup holder is removed?

When you remove the cup holder, a spring loaded flap flips up to fill in the hole.

OTHER USES FOR CUP HOLDER SLOT

Does anyone know if they make some sort of phone/ipod holder for the 1er cup holder next to the shifter?

Thanks.

there's pics of it being used as a cell phone holder... but it sure doesn't look like it was meant to be...

sounds like there is a bit of a storage space issue on the 135i... oh well... the price you have to pay

There are a few for cupholders in general. Here's two:

Thank you

Thank you very much for your replies. Storage is a bit of an issue but I'm determined to solve for it. I'm thinking of keeping a gadget bag or two behind the driver's seat and under the passenger seat.

Thanks again.

btw, do you have usb audio?

is it in the glove box or under the arm rest... if it is the latter.. then you have to deal with placing your ipod somewhere, eh?

The ipod goes in the leather case attached to the underside of the armrest.

I figure the cupholder would be ok for holding my Blackberry, esp in one of those fancy holder pictured above. But I would prefer if the cupholder and the slot were not there at all. Wonder if that can be deleted when ordering...
