Strut Alignment Pin Removal Results

My dealer's Master Tech (who did all the prep work on my dealer sponsored Solo race car) drilled out the strut pins while the car was on the alignment machine and was able to get only 0.2 degrees more negative camber, for a total of -0.5 on each side at stock ride height. Hardly worth the effort. Looks like there will be Motorforce adjustable camber plates in my future.

Has anybody with H&Rs installed checked camber on a machine? Should be a little better with the drop.

Only .2? bummer. I have more combined with the drop. Stock camber looks almost vertical. At -.3, I guess they are nearly vertical.. Normally, BMW does quite a bit more than that.

The chapter has a camber guage, but I cannot get to it until event 1, which is still 3 weeks away, Mike. Sorry.

No problem. I guess one could hog out the 3 slots to get more camber, but I think I'll avoid the ghetto approach on this car.

Huh. Wonder if the lack of adjustment range is a factor of how precisely cars are assembled nowadays. That is just not much margin for adjustment if a car rolled of the assembly line with any kind of tolerance problem. Also interesting implications for how good a repair has to be, now, after a collision.

We already make these plates for coilover apps; RRT put a set on an E92 335 with AST coilovers, and this chassis has the same strut tower layout as the 1.

Once we check the OEM perches from an E90/82 we'll see if we already make an OEM style perch for use with stock or "lowering springs", otherwise we'll design and build that quickly. I need to add a section for the E90/92/82 chassis to our catalog and add these parts and our AST kits...

Thanks, Terry. When you have a perches available for OE style springs on the e82 post it up in the Commercial section. I'm sure there will a few of us that will be staying with OE style springs and want more negative camber for events.
