will winter tyres fit?
Hi,
will ANY winter tyres fit the 261M wheels? with this car, they will be a must... the ditch is not a good place for a 135i... only big trucks. The bottom line is: I don't want to buy another set of nice looking BMW wheels (got to have the logo) and steelies... well, let's not go there.

Does anyone know if 17 inch wheels will fit the 135 Coupe with the big brakes or do we need 18 inch?
Whatever, go with the narrowest winters possible on the smallest wheels. Avoid low profile, wide winters as much as possible.

Nothing else. The wife likes it pure & raw...but I digress... |

Regarding your signature, I thought you could definitely order without sunroof here in the true north.

check out www.tirerack.com
they have tested the car to see what sizes fit and ship to canada. Their tire prices are half of what they are in canada. |

The roof
Quote:
Since my order can be cancelled at anytime before delivery, he said "I will not order and then be stuck with that car without the roof". Seems that any other option is negociable, but the roof is not. Maybe something to do with the market in Québec, but this BMW dealer will not accept an order for the car without the sunroof. Anyone find a 135 without the sunroof in Canada? Maybe it's just another way to soak the customer, like they charge us for a $2,000 wash and remove the seat covers...aka delivery and dealer prep. But still, a sweet car.

Maybe that is in your area only, i think??? when i ordered and built mine there was no pressure or mention of having to add sunroof. I got premium package so it comes with it. the leather and bluetooth was a must and the sunroof just happen to be part of the package. I find that kinda odd that they would force that option or any option onto a customer.Isn't that the whole idea of custom building a car, u spec the car the way U want it? Did u put a deposit down?

Yes, the 17 inch wheels fit the 135i. Best winter setup would be 205/50/17 all around. Remember that narrower tyre will work better in snow conditions.

I was checking with a friend who owns a Goodyear dealership and he can't find anything that fits the 18" wheel option. And, there are only so many winter tires that fit 205/50/17. I only saw Pirelli's that were RFT.
And, it's good to start sourcing them now since he just put his order in for the fall winter tires and there are only so many winter tires made a year. |

The repro's were only slightly more expensive than the BMW steelies, not nearly what they charge for alloy wheels. But of course, they *are* a cheaper wheel -- I would never trust them on a track, for example, and the fronts have yellowed somewhat due to brake dust, but hey, good enough for winter time use! |

mmmm, thanks for the info...
I want those wheels in winter and summer though... I'll find out a way... I don't care if the winters have a higher profile

I went to Tirerack and configured 5-17"x8" wheels, 5- Dunlop M3 snow tires 205/50/17" with TPMS sensors, mounting/balancing, shipping for about $1550. Here is a pic of the wheel.

I'm looking at something similar from Tire Rack but without the TPMS since Canada seems to use the rolling speed/diameter method to determine tire pressure.
Compared to before, Tirerack has done quite a bit to make shipping to Canada easier. They have UPS do all the brokerage and collect all the taxes and duty up front so you don't get any surprise when they deliver. |
