BMS Filter installed with pics

All i can say is wow. This thing sounds crazy. If you want a nice quiet filter stay away from this. I love the sound. The car definitely pulls harder in the top end. The car has not fully adapted as I just put it on a hew hours ago. I love this filter kit.

I love this filter kit. One of my favorite mods so far. Its sounds insane. Do not buy this if you want a quiet inconspicuous filter. It defintely pulls harder in the top end. Car is still adapting as I just installed it. Mods i inadvertantly posted twice. Delete this one and leave the one in the under the hood section. Thanks!

Wow that thing looks huge.

Quick question though, it appears that the old airbox was extract air from the front of the vehicle and now it's just drawing air from the engine bay? Or you took out the plastic box for picture.

Box stays out. That is exactly how it looks. It still gets a healthy dose of fresh air from the scoop. Surprisingly enough after consecutive hard runs I am able to hold the filter in my hand without getting burned.

Can you make a video of you driving the car? That would be great! Also at what rpm do you start to hear the intake or is it louder at all RPMS?

x2, Maybe a simple plastic enclosure could be used to avoid major heat soak from the engine - and of course have it ducted to the air scoop.

A true CAI would be nice though.

So kinda off topic from the sweet intake system you got, but after looking at your pics it made me wonder.... So your BOV releases to environment instead of recirculating right? Does that make the car run worse?

I asked him the same thing. His is a VTA(Vent to atmosphere) BOV vs. recirculating BOV. He said there is no issue whatsoever as far as the tune or how it runs. He might give you a more detailed response though. Hope this helps.

Keep in mind cold air doesnt matter as much on FI motors since the turbos heat up the charge when compressed. turbo cars need more air not necessarily colder air. As stated in other threads look at supras with filters right on the turbo.

Do a search for the post by Berger with logged IAT data of the stock air box vs his kit vs his kit with a sheild...all were so close it didnt matter

Check out this little gem, for some alternate opinions... The author has a lengthy experience with forced induction (I think over 40 years).

Well the cooler the air anywhere the better, no matter if FI or NA.
At least the intercooler is a front mount to cool off the charge air nicely.

If possible, a log of intake temps and the computer adjusting timing to compensate on a short-ram vs. stock vs. cai might show the differences.

It would matter most when your messing with AFR's, boost, or avoiding knock, say in the setting of methanol/alky injection.
