I emailed the guy at Clear Tech. He said it was $495 for the front end of our 135i's. He uses the new 3m and said it will not fade. I have yet to get any good feed back though from anyone as I live in Houston also I would like to know.

A friend of mine just bought a new Porsche Carrera...and he used a shop on Memorial just west of Dairy Ashford...I'll get the name of the shop if you want...and they did a fantastic job....I did my own...and next time I do another car I am taking it to them to do it...it wasn't worth my time...

I should hear back from him soon...and Dan...his car is white too and you would never even know it was on the car even after looking for it..they did very good work...I believe it only took them a couple of hrs to do it and he waited there which he said had a very nice waiting room...now I think they do tint as well...again something I do myself...but it's getting to the point where I don't have time...and I am real particular on the quality of work that must be done..so I may even look at bringing the car over to them as well for tint...

Oh yes we will be doing some carbon on the 1 series...definitely some hoods and trunks, factory stock as well as our own design...and then the typical trim pieces these cars like..front splitters as well as full front spoiler...but with the cars so new I will have a hard time finding good used parts...I may have to fork out for factory new parts...that's gonna be expensive...

Also we just got our post curing oven up and going so we are ramping up production of parts...and the e46 trunk design that you saw out at the track has been completely built and inner and outer skins bonded..and the final weight came in at 7.1lbs prior to clear coating...and I must say...it is very strong...so much so that I laid it down on the concrete, spoiler side up, and stood on the part...did not give a hint of fibers cracking at all..now I may weigh a 180lbs wet...but..I was amazed at the strength of the part....

Okay the shop here in Houston:

DriverSource is the shop and Steve Perez is who you will talk to..

DriverSource

My friend gave me two numbers...
281-893-1171
713-539-6700

They also do tinting as well....he paid around 400 for his car...but it looked really good...and that is not a bad price..I spent 350 for the 3M precut kit for our M3 and then I still had to put it on which took about 4hrs...the extra 50 would've been worth it to have someone else do it....

As long as everything goes well with making the jigs to bonding of the e46 carbon lid together, we should be out there...I do want to show this piece even though it's relegated to the scrap yard...lol

So Dan...How are you enjoying the new addition to the family???

Well technically it's invisisheild or something like that but he works out of DriverSource...you won't find a listing for invisishield so that is why I posted DriverSource...or at least i couldn't find one...but I didn't look too hard though...

But the phone #'s are his...these were the one's listed on his business card...

Katera, would greatly appreciate hearing about your experience and seeing any pictures if you're so inclined. My 135 won't be here until August but I'd like to have the front end covered soon after I take ownership.

Good luck!

You bet, I get my car next week and a trip down to Steve Perez <talked to him by phone today> is going to happen a day after I get the car. Even if I have to take off work! I will be posting a ton of pics of the car when I get her done...clear bra result included. Just fyi, Steve said no one does more black cars then them in this area, and he is the one that fixes the screwed up clear bra installations for the high dollar cars.

It's a pretty long story, but in short I do not recommend him. First...I told him 30 minutes before the job again that I only wanted the bumper. So I go back to check on the car and they did the hood...take it off. Then I go back after they do the bumper and he has cut it into at least 3 pieces. Honestly? It was awful. There were large gaps in the lower air intake area <the painted area>, the seams were completely not symmetrical...it looked terrible. My disappointment was palpable as they took it off and wrote off the charges. He said <after he had piece mealed it> that he had the wrong 135i kit and just tried to make it work. Honestly, I am still reeling from the experience. I would strongly advise finding someone else.

So did he finally make it right or are you currently bra-less and in search of another installer?

Bra-less at this time. Like I said, I am reeling from how bad it went.

He might as well have admitted that he did an improper worthless job. Ridiculous. A refund was absolutely in order.

your clear bra experience

I recently purchased a Ferrari F430, and I also have a BMW 650... BOTH have the full clearbra kit installed, and they are MAGNIFICENT.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience with Steve Perez, but sadly, you are not the first person I have have come across that is disappointed with his work.

I'm curious where you purchased your car. I called around EVERYWHERE, and the ONLY person they recommended for high-end vehicles is Gray (Grey?) Wagner with Paint Protection of Texas. He has a website... not sure of the URL.... I did check him out THOROUGHLY. His prices were much less than at the dealer, but the dealer ITSELF (my salesguy) told me to take it to Mr. Wagner IMMEDIATELY.

His product knowledge and client education are OUTSTANDING and he is very personable, and treated my babies (my cars) as if they were his own. HE ALSO CLEARBRA'D MY HARLEY!!!! I didn't even know people DID such things, but we started talking about "toys"... and it came up. GREATEST THING I EVER DID.

His PERSONAL CELL PHONE number is 281-594-3006... I have already sent SEVERAL friends and car club members to him as well... each and every one was satisfied.

I will NEVER own another car without a bra on it... ever.

CALL HIM!

Beth

PS - he also tints windows... which look amazing on my BMW... still haven't tinted the Ferrari... not sure if I'm going to yet.

Will be calling Gray tomorrow for quotes on both tint and clear bra!

Checked out his website (thanks ferraribabe) and find that he's on the north side of town (45 and 1960 West) which is perfect in relation to where I live. So if he's as good as you claim and the price is right...will try and make arrangements to take my 1 to him the day I take delivery!
