Anyone painting their calipers?

Has anyone thought of painting the stock calipers in red (or any other color)..?
i think they would look cool, and if you want to keep your B M W lettering on the calipers its as easy as making stickers and applying clearcoat over them.

Ive seen it done in other cars , mainly audis where they put the rings on the stock caliper, but the 135 caliper looks wayyy better.

heres an example:

anyone wanna try it out?:iono:

Powdercoated red would look awesome. Remove, disasemble, blast, coat, cook, add BMW in black, reasemble, replace and bleed.
Car could be on blocks for a week or more.
Do you have an extra car to drive?

Yeah i will be painting mine but I debating on what shade of red I want. Also i cannot stand brake dust so im waiting for ceramic brake pads first. Brake dust drives me crazy. Anyone feel free to come out with some good colors for the calipers. Im looking for a red or maybe something that just stands out any thoughts Im open to idea's

I dont remember the exact details, but it has to do with the comprehensive process they use to paint them. Repainting at a bodyshop can nowhere come close to duplicating it.

At a driving event, I've literally had plumes of smoke coming off the brakes, they were so hot. The stock caliper paint was unblemished, and I figured it would have bubbled off. Make sure that you use paint specifically formulated for calipers, or you'll ruin the paint if you ever get the brakes hot enough to bake that new paint.

I thought about painting my calipers red (crimson red car), but have decided to just paint the BMW letters red instead of the stock white. What do you guys think about this idea?
Thanks.

I wouldnt guys, they will NOT look good. Not as good as the std calipers, if you want another guy buy the bmw performance kit and sell your 135 brakes to a 125/128 owner

I used G2 paint in the past. Easy to do and look good. I have not plans on doing mine though. I like them the way they are.

I wouldn't say they won't look good, but just not worth the effort to me. If I was to swap to some other BBK I would pick a different color, but just not worth the time and effort to put the car on blocks, pull 'em, wait for the paint shop, etc.

....that's just me though, I have no problems appreciating others doing this.

Any ideas on how to paint the calipers and keep the BMW logo intact...It's just painted on and not raised. Be a beetch to tape off...what kind of stickers to use?

I was thinking of doing it this weekend. The idea was to powder coat the wheels gunmetal, but the brakes didn't really show well in pictures I saw. So, red it will be...

The cost was estimated to be $400 for the brakes. Is this too much? Would it be better to just replace them with new calipers that are originally red?

If I remember correctly the BBK was over $1K.

I agree 100%. Brake dust doesn't even stick to the calipers :headbang:

Aren't the letters recessed a little bit? If so, I was just going to use the BMW touch-up paint in the same color as my car (Crimson Red) to paint the letters.

don't use the touch up paint...you need paint specifically made for withstanding the heat produced when you get on the breaks.
