2017 540i A/C not cooling
I used A/C during our summers (Dec/Jan in Australia) and it was cooling very well. The car had a coolant leak and went to my Indy in Feb. It was winters, so I didnt need to test A/C in last few months, I turned A/C last week and it was blowing hot air.
Heating works as usual, no complaints. I have also noticed that the RPM jumps a little while idling the car, or stopped at lights. It is same behaviour no matter, car is in Parking or Drive. Any idea, if the A/C gas has escaped or similar else needs to be looked at ? Sharing a video shortly to show the rpm behaviour. Thanks.

If you are not getting any cold air even on maxa/c then that’s a possibility
I’m not a mechanic so these are just guesses on my part Maybe the compressor is not engaging? I think there is a clutch that you’ll hear click as it engages once the engine starts I would also suggest once you get this sorted to leave the a/c on even in winter as there is a sealant in it that helps to seal the pipes . It’ll run at its best if it’s always powered on regardless of the weather. Mechanics here will no doubt be able to provide better info |

What was the coolant leak?
I believe the coolant system has something to do with the a/c interesting enough. There have been many owners with radiator replacements when not properly installed the a/c stopped working. Just temporary until the car was returned to mechanic and I think maybe it was to due with the burping or coolant level. |

I think you will need professional help. Along with basic checks for leaks, there was also a software update in North America for 2017 G30s and it might apply to your part of the world as well.
I agree with leaving the AC engaged year round. I have done so on my 2001 E39 540 since new, and have never performed any service on the AC system, other than replacing cabin filters, a blower motor and the FSU. The AC provides dehumidification in winter, preventing windows from fogging up. |

Updating this thread, if someone else also finds themselves in this situation.
I have had the car checked at my Indy a couple of weeks back for the AC not cooling issue. They found out 2 leaks in the turbo coolant hoses. Turbo coolant being low meant compressor would not cool. After filling up the turbo coolant, AC was cooling pretty well. Unfortunately, one of the hoses is not available and has to be ordered out of Germany. So I am currently waiting for the part to get this fixed.
