Upshift Brap

I've posted this about this before..

anyone with a 5 series B58 running bm3 tune w/ xhp stage 3 able to get the upshift or throttle release brap?

Anyone have videos or clips of there car doing this?

If i'm in eco mode shifting manually i'm able to get it SOMETIMES maybe 1/100 pulls, but other than that nothing I do gets that infamous "B58 brap" on shifts.

I've played around with the settings in XHP and nothing I do works.

It's rather the shifts become too delayed and mushy or it shifts too quick for any noise.

Please someone help loool

Just to chime in here as an MHD user that did previously used XHP too, With braps set to OEM in MHD, they were audible but i never bothered trying to get the XHP brap option working too since it was already working via MHD, so i think maybe if you have a brap setting in BM3 and also trying with XHP they might be interfering with eachother.

FYI, im now on a custom transmission tune from Sutphin tuning, there is no braps and shifts are so much quicker and smoother overall compared to XHP stage 3

The upshift brap is reduced with stage 3 xHP as the shifts are so quick.

I run stage 2 with the setting for torque reduction increased in all gears, that gives a nice sound with a Remus exhaust

Note, I only get loud braps in sport + and in particular manual shifting, you really have to build the boost in the lower gears and change around 4-5.5k for the loudest noise.

Also in xHP you have ignition cut as another setting, this gives you the brap as well

Totally makes sense now that you say it, I won't if I flash my transmission to stock paired with the stage 2+ Bm3 tune I'll here the brap.

Can you send a screenshot of the torque reduction settings you have.

Also have you tried the ignition cuts with xHP?

Really appreciate the response my brother!

Hi mate, I will get you a screenshot but from what I remember I put all gears at plus 10% for torque reduction.

Ignition cut I need to play with it more but yes it does give a louder sound when shifting, I’m going to play with this setting next week

What exhaust are you running? I'm able to get upshift brap on stock tune with XHP stage 2 w/o changing settings. '22 540i, stock downpipe, and generic valved muffler.

Sorry bro, I haven’t had a chance to play with the settings more for ignition cut, hopefully this weekend.

So I re read your post above and I think your issue is the stock muffler, it reduces the sound so much.

My buddy had a castles downpipe and removed the mid res and it still sounded restricted and more like a diesel with the cat less.

He changed out his muffler for Remus and it improved the sound and braps dramatically

So I completely changed the exhaust on my 2019 540ix, here's a link to videos of me driving and good exhaust noise. I have upshift braps at will, usually half throttle at 3-5k rpm between all gears

https://photos.app.goo.gl/CJYpHBMW61NRP6hP6

Let me know if you have questions, but my exhaust modifications are specified on other posts I've made.

Sadly, I got the car with the stage 2 tune and did the exhaust modifications after. But I will be moving to stage 2+ bm3 here soon, as I already have the hpfp. The tune currently has aggressive burbles.

reassigning shift speeds to stock/oem with xhp did it for me.
activate setting .
set standard to standard
medium to medium
and fast to fast and save. then flash. n adjust from there.
you should have your upshift braps back.
i tried all setting on fast and had no brap. also tried medium, fast , fast and had no brap. i think i will try standard, medium , medium next so i can get that brap on full trottle. im not looking for best 1/4 mile times and super fast shifting. just mainly exhaust music.
