CF Roof
Not sure if you have seen this car over in the Photo section but I think it looks great with it's CF roof. The only drawback is that its CF film and not the real thing.
I for one really like it and was debating whether or not to get it done. What do you guys think? (Im lean toward no because it's film) I know you guys and you guys won't hold back so let it fly.

Not if it's film...real thing...maybe. I know there were pics of an E46 M3 that had the roof cut and CF in it's place. Looked great and it was functional...saved quite a bit of weight up high. But again...definitely not.

Hell yes, I love it.
I dont care if its a film, the 1er is already light enough for me, I dont care if it saves 50 lbs. Im not cutting out the roof and replacing it with Carbon Fiber, but I love the look. Where and how much???

No way. Nothing worse than adding fake CF to a car IMO.
If it were the real deal, I'd say it's fine, but not worth the trouble for the few lbs you'd save. |

id rather paint the roof BSM to simulate the 2-tone look without cutting metal or adding cheap film that will/could bubble.

Yes but at what cost though? Ever removed film of that size off automotive paint. It could get ugly fast! :iono:

Yeah, I think it looks nice, but it's a personal thing. You said you weren't so keen on a film, I'd go with your gut, if it bubbles, or anything, it will really tick you off

Im all for a real CF roof, and Ill do it if its available. Theres a few things to consider though... you need a sunroof delete headliner, or a CF roof with a sunroof hole.
I would go the film route, if you are going to do a CF sticker, why not do a reaf CF sheet over the roof. CF roof>>CF sheet> replica film |

Kinda reminds of those fake rag tops on various Lincolns and maybe Cadillacs(?). Though the word "poser" is a bit old, I'm afraid it would fit pretty good to somebody who just wanted to look like they invested in some serious weight savings.

I like it. It looks very clean. I know everyone here is worried about weight savings and poser issues, but what if he said it was real? You wouldnt be flaming him then. Although, its not real, but I dont think he asked if you liked it for the weight savings, its about the look. And the look gets a +1 in my book. Just saying. ALTHOUGH, real carbon f. would be about a +23040973409387 in my book
