Installed KWV2
Full review from Horst at VR who installed it for me:
http://www.vrperformance.com/mt/2008..._1_1.html#more My Thoughts: I am very thankful to Ron************ for the KWv2 and to Eric and Horst at VR performance in MI for installation. Ron at **********s has been awesome in getting the kw's so quickly and for the ultrafast shipping. Ron is a pleasure to deal with. Eric and Horst who installed it for me were awesome and meticulous. It took roughly about 5hrs and we chatted about Motons to racing. How do I feel about it? Horst from VR who installed mine had an m3 race car in which he gave me a ride. My car gave me a similar feeling in handling. I didn't go for a huge drop since I don't want it for the looks and I am allowing the springs to settle before i go for a further drop and the rebound compression is just set at 30% stiffer. My suspension now feels like a envelope, the feeling is more like it hugs the road closely and it is not much harsher than the original sport suspension. |

Looks great! Is it just me or is negative rear camber much more abundant after the install??
Again, first dibs on a ride-along!

I know we're talking apples and oranges here, but when I put coils on my Subaru, I went from something like -.5 degrees to over -3 degrees. I sold the car a short while after putting the coils on, but if I wanted to "fix" this I would have needed to add rear camber bolts. Also, I'm not sure what you're up to this weekend, but if my car shows up during this week sometime I plan on attending the BMW meet in Birmingham Saturday morning (I believe it's from 8-10 a.m.) - if you don't have plans you should show! EDIT: By the way, the stance on your car looks awesome. In some other pics I've seen with the 1er lowered the cars looked WAY too low, but this looks great... There are too many local guys modding their cars already - this is surely going to get me divorced!

Looking good. If the car ended up lower than it was stock, then negative camber did increase -- that's just a BMW suspension trait. Toe probably also changed. Everything that I've heard and read about the KW's indicate that the springs will settle and the car will drop some more. I'll be getting the same suspension installed later this week and was curious as to how many "clicks' off of full hard you set the rebound to get your ~30% stiffer feeling? Also, did you set the height at the highest (i.e., the minimum drop) allowed by the KW's? Thanks in advance for you input.

Yes, they lower the car a minimum of ~20 mm and a maximum of ~50mm -- you decide the exact amount of "lowering" from stock when you set the spring perch position.

coolguy, if it's not too much to ask, the next time its up on a lift would you take a pic of the OE wheel/tire clearance from the strut/spring, please? And where is the adjustment point on the front and rear struts/shocks, top or bottom?

Not clear...we need input for coolguy.
If the shop set his KW's at their highest setting, it would result in an approximate drop of 20 mm from stock.

Rebound adjustment is located on the top (front and rear) of the strut/shock.

Sorry guys. Couldn't find time with my 6month Jr:biggrin:. I went for 1/2 inch drop on all sides. when the springs settle after 200 miles, i might go for 1 inch in total on all sides and get alignment. I won't be going tracking soon. So I guess i won't be going for corner balancing now.
I haven't asked to alter the toe n camber more than it comes with the drop. My understeer is almost gone. Regarding the drop, KW says the range of height adjust ability on the Fronts is 1.4 - 2.5 inches and the rears are a 1.4 - 2.1 inch drop though I am not 100% sure on it. Regarding the rebound KW reco's for a start on fronts 1,25 turns open +/-0.25 turns on the rears 1,0 turns open +/- 0.25 turns. I went with Eric who is the susp guy for 30% rebound. I'll test drive more n see if it is comfortable or if i shud go for more. The adjustment is all of more a trial n error thing. Rebound adjustment is from the top n not the bottom. But the one disadv with the adjustments is I can't sneak in my hand and have to remove the whole wheel. I feel like going in a gokart on the road now |

Nice job, the drop looks perfect to me! However I have a question...
How can you drop 0.5 inches (perfect for a daily driver, as per the BMW performance suspension), when you say that... Quote:
Thanks for clarifying if possible! |
