Autocross School/Test n Tune event - 7/13 - PICS ADDED

Sign ups opened today, and will sell out today or tomorrow! If you've ever thought of trying out autocross, this is the event to try it on. You'll get soooooo much seat time, probably 40 runs.

The Boston Chapter will run a Test & Tune Autocross school July 13th. This is by far the most fun, bang for your buck school on the runways.

Why?
Anyone can attend.
  • You DO NOT have to be a BMWCCA member to register for this event.
  • You get more seat time in your car during the day than any other event we host.
  • Instructors will drive your car if you want them to.
  • These regional instructors hold multiple driving awards, both with local Solo 2 programs and national events as well.
  • The event has limited registration to insure tons of runs for each student, or driver.
  • Low Instructor to student ratios Suspension setup feedback by the instructors
  • Sit in other drivers cars for runs
  • Go for rides in instructors car !
  • Use the exercise areas for hours of practice!
  • True Test & Tune drivers will be given special waivers on worker assignments.
I'd LOVE to see some more 1ers running.

Have them sign up too! Really, these events only happen once a year. You can get married a hundred times a year, if you want to!

I will be there, already signed up! I've gone a couple times in E30 and am totally psyched to be going in the 1er.

Seriously, everybody that can should sign up. You learn a lot, get to push your car to its limits (or at least my E30 to its limits..), wait around for much less time than at a regular autocross, and have tons and tons of fun.

I think it will be the first non-street post-break-in fun I'll get.

Right now there will be three 135i's there! Any 128i takers? :iono:

I'm REALLY psyched that you guys are coming!!!

You'll get a confirmation email that you registered, then when you are moved to "Accepted" you'll get the paypal notification. There's about 30 instructors and 56 drivers signed up. Still room for a few more.

Roldan, it'll get here soon enough! Spectators are welcome, and we allow spectators to passenger (and we have limited helmets for those people).

If anybody wants to get out there for a regular autocross event, we opened up registration for the 6/22 autocross for a few more people!! Right now, my 1 series is the only one there. Don't make it be lonely!

How much does a regular event cost? I live so close that I think I'd be stupid not to go... Also, I have a helmet that I used to use at NED for the 1320. Will it be good enough for this? Thanks

Very cool. Wish I didn't have to set up the timing and get the club van there, or I'd be there to meet with you. I will be at the event all day though! Be nice to see some 1's on the road other then mine!

haha I work in the building on Charlestown street which is in Devens. This picture on the google maps is really old. You wont be able to drive all the way thru MacArthur Ave like it's telling you to do. Its blocked off right after charlestown street. You can just not turn right at Givery Street and continue down Sherman ave

Bdh821, I hope you swing by on Sunday then! We'll be there until around 4pm, then we head over to JP O'Hanlons for libations. I'd love to see a montego brother to my whitebread.
OOOH!!! With Rachel there.. we could do a Red/White/Blue 135i photoset!

Actually, lots of things about that Google Map look wrong. One of my best friends lives in Devens on Elm St, and when I take Jackson off Rt 2, I have to turn left to get onto Sherman. If I don't, Jackson continues straight to what looks like MacArthur on that map. edit to add: oh, the satellite photo makes it more clear - Jackson turns into Sherman and then turns into MacArthur.

Larry - spectators are welcome? I might stop by. I was thinking of hanging out in Devens tomorrow anyway.

I had a BLAST today, and was great to meet you all! Was really cool to see you first timers just get the hang of it... It was also fun to scare the heck out of Amy on one run, as I lost it and spun out. I think she got enough passengering time to make her sick though.

Was awesome weather though!!

Well, we were sliding right toward that big white thing! All I could do was hold on and close my eyes!

The weather was awesome and while I'm not as sunburned as Rachel, I have a few tender pink spots on my shoulders and back. And yeah, my stomach had quite enough performance driving by the end (although I'll have everyone know that I stayed in the car with Larry for another two runs after the near encounter with the big white thing).

Even though I didn't drive the courses myself, I got rides in everyone's 1ers (as well as a Z4 I asked for a few rides in). I was so familiar with the one course that by the end, I was giving pointers to the drivers. And I returned the driving favor by chauffeuring with the top down at lunch.

Thanks for the loan of helmets everyone. I may have to try driving myself at the next one.

Amy, later on, we went out to that area I swept. Not only was the pavement coming up, but the crack sealant had liquified in the heat. Double whammy.

Was not picking on you with the QOTD. It was just a funny thing. Once we started to go around, I knew we'd clear that white sign thingie.. it was the wall of cones there that could have been the only thing I nailed.

Regardless, you all are very nice and cool people and I was glad to meet ya! I think Rachel wins the worst sunburn of the day award, but I think I'm a close second.

I had a great time yesterday also - it was my first time really pushing the 1er - which was pretty awesome - and the excellent company was great too!

I have pretty bad sunburn on my neck and nose also.. oops.

See everybody at the next one?
