yet another aussie review

Another aussie review, this time by Motor as part of their PCOTY, they didn’t give the usual praise that others have… but I still don’t under stand their inclusion criteria in to the pcoty!…. Porsche gt2 vs a touareg r50????

Yeh I'm just reading it now. Pretty lame 0-100 time too - 5.7 seconds.

The 135 made it throuh to the final though so that's good.

from memory, in 25 words or less...
didnt live up to what they expected, ride was "jiggly", and let down by chassis and suspension/runflats, and electronic steering (... im really confused as to the steering now... hydraulic or electric on the 135?). but still gave it an overall good impression, especially on the track.

Not that I have a 135, but I don't think their comments are too harsh.
We all know the RFT are not the best performer of the bunch, and the majority of the competition the 135 was against had real tyres! some performance dedicated!
The times did seem a little slow though?

ye the times are a little slow, but as pointed out by others in the other thread it was done "on gravel".... which is a little bias towards the 4wd i guess

I agree with them that the 135i is too soft! I need a suspension upgrade asap I think. Also the RFT makes the ride inconsistent on the road. Sometimes it feels compliant, other times it just crashes. With a set of proper tyres and KW V2, I think this problem will be solved. Maybe I will let them have my car to test on the side next time...

Not being biased, but at around half the cost of the 135i the SS Commo is hard to beat because of that very thing - 'bang for buck' criteria

As others have said, given a 'proper' set of tyres and a more favourable surface, I'm sure the times would've been much better...maybe even a whole second to 100km/h.

Still 0-100km/h in 5.7sec ain't too shabby at all - remember only a few years ago people were drooling over the E46 M3's performance which was very similar to that figure

Would have loved to see how the new 2008 Lotus 2-11 does. Wonder if it will be included in another group. 188kw & 670kg (base) should challenge most things on track. It is one car I really desire to drive hard.

Come September I will be able to post real world 135i comparisons of my own. I really am not expecting the world from the 135i (to be honest I was never THAT excited to drive it as it's to be my daily hack) but with all this above-average press it is getting I am more and more looking forward to delivery....

I think the ONE review that sparked my attention had to be the Porsche Cayman vs 135i one. I really like driving the Cayman and honestly didnt think around a track this 'little' BMW could compare!

Dissapointing or not, I always like to read up on what other people who test/review cars have to say - whether it be Motor, Wheels, Evo, or Top Gear mag. etc.

But I would never buy or subscribe to any of them, waste of money IMHO...

I always have a good and thourough read on a weekly basis whenever I'm at Safeway doing my normal grocery shopping or at a large Newsagency
