3m Spoiler Install

I installed my spoiler with 3m molding tape and it started to come off when it was really hot so I am planning to take it off and reapply it with 3m VHB tape this time. I also bought some adhesion promoter wipes, would it be safe to use adhesion promoter on the trunk or should I only put it on the spoiler?

Yes, you want to wipe down the trunk where the spoiler will sit. It's really just alcohol and the purpose is to strip the area of wax or other coatings so the tape adheres. If this is for a spoiler that sits on the edge vs. the flat part of the trunk like the OEM spoiler, most manufacturers recommend permalink.

This is the tape you want to be using:

What Joe said....I used VHB and isopropyl alcohol for my M Performance CF trunk lid spoiler. Been three years and no issues.

Yes, we both used adhesive promoter. I used the 3M Adhesive promoter because it came with my spoiler from RW, but what I was saying (and Dave) is that it is just alcohol which strips the area of any coating, wax, bead maker, etc. so the tape sticks to the car and not the wax/ceramic.

Did you both get it off Amazon? I'm reading that Amazon has alot of fake 3m tape so now I'm hesitant to order from there. Can't seem to find the tape in anything shorter than 36 yards on other sites.
