668m hazing issue

Just picked up a set of 668’s got them home gave a good decon wash as they’d been sitting for 8 months. I can my seem to get rid of this white hazing. I’ve tried synthetic clay, nu finish, ceramic 3 in 1 Nd can’t get it to lighten up. Any one else had this issue with these? If you did what steps did you take to lighten this up

Wondering it was acid, I think some of the worst wheel cleaners out there rely on acid to clean dirty wheels.

Don’t know

No acid from my end. Just a little dawn and hot water to cut the grease that was on there. Turtle wax foaming wheel cleaner, and then meguires soap after. I use all 3 things on the wife’s black x5 wheels and nothing like this happens

I would never use Dawn on any automotive paint surface. Dawn will strip away protective sealants and waxes from the paint surface. It won’t harm the paint, but may leave the surface exposed to the elements which can cause discoloration.
The 668M is a painted wheel. I have the same wheel and use either car wash soap, Adam’s Wheel Cleaner or Griots Wheel cleaner which are safe for painted wheel surfaces.

I had my buddy who’s a detailer spray them with a wheel acid he diluted pretty heavy with water. Rinsed. Dried. Then went in with blue magic metal polish by hand at first with good result then went out and got a mothers 360 cone for the drill. Polished and buffed. I have one more to do today then I’ll ceramic coat tonight. Absolutely love the finish, it really brings a new depth to the wheel being glossy instead of the satin finish cerium.

My biggest peeve about these wheels is the finish and hazing. Any water dripping or remnants in the bolt holes after washing the car and you've got spots.

My 668's still look like they came from factory. The key is cleaning them with the right product regularly. I use Sonax. Not cheap, but nothing compares. No agitation necessary, just let it turn purple and blast off with the the power washer.

I did have them ceramic coated too, which helps.

I clean my 668 always with only water and use mequiars ultimate wax, to clean and protect them. Always easy to clean, due to this wax.
