Active Grille Shutters (reduced performance)

Hi all,

Apology in advance as this might be a long one to read.

Few months ago I removed the upper active grille shutter on my ‘22 540i which threw CEL.
The code didn’t bother me and I’m running JB4 so I remove it every now and then.

Yesterday I was doing some cosmetic work and ended up removing the actuator and the bottom shutters as well. (If there’s a CEL already, one or two more codes won’t hurt LOL).

But guess what? Besides the CEL, this message started popping up “You can continue driving. No roadside assistance required. Reduced engine performance: have the problem checked by your service center.

I did couple of pulls and the car runs normal.
When I turn off the engine after a hard drive, the fans remain on for few minutes as they should, so that’s good.

Again, the codes don’t bother me at all, my concern is if there will be reduced performance, or something I’m not noticing? Should I just ignore the code and message?

I have read through the forum before that you could revert back into an old JB4 firmware (the one that auto-deletes the codes), is that still doable?

Any input is greatly appreciated!
