First time buyer of a BMW so some questions may seem silly but I’ve seen and been told by BMW I only need to service my vehicle every 2 years.

I want to keep it long term and maintain it properly to avoid any expensive fixes in the future. Is servicing every 2 years the right thing to do or should I be doing it annually and what type of service should be done?

Just oil and oil filter or more. All help is appreciated. Thank you in advance

Not sure which market you are in but guessing maybe EU as the servicing requirements seem to match , ie in the uk here it is 2 miles/19000 miles which ever comes first.

Now I have read and watched a lot about servicing (I’m not a mechanic) and there certainly seems to be a lot of different views on this

If you want the engine to last , you are looking at longevity of the engine, then the Bmw interval I would consider too long

I had my car oil changed at 7k miles and again at 14k miles but am now looking to it at 5k miles which for me is 3 times every 2 years.

Suggest watching lots videos on it and make mind up

I m also new BMW owner (g30 520 xdrive). If you drive a lot off City and short drives i would go 10000km oil chanage! If lot off highway 15000km that it, do not folow BMW instructions!
I had a 46000km big service was done by BMW, next one i going to ask them only to chanage oil and oil filter between 10000-15000!
I have X drive so im going to chanage oil in VTG and refresh oil and filter in automaticgearbox and front and rear diff. BMW says that this oils are lifetime but ZF wich makes gearbox says 80000-120000km depends on driving condition!!
There is a lot off infos on inernet and youtube and i had a lot off cars, so this is my opinion about this!!��

10,000km or 6k miles for oil and filter has been my go to. Air filter and cabin air filter yearly or every 2.
